Sir Thomas More
Nov 6 2009, 8:01 PM EST
I am a direct descendant of Sir Thomas More,a fact confirmed by ancestry.com. My last name is of English origin and so are all my relatives on my dad's side of the family. It's through my great grandparents, Lee and Eva Morse Peters, that I am related to Sir Thomas. I tracemy lineage to More's son, John. As a Roman Catholic, it's an honor to be related to this great man and saint. Do you find this valuable? |

William,As a descendant of Sir/Saint Thomas More via his son John myself, and as the author of a book on his descendants, I would be very interested to know how and when your line links into the main More line. Would you mind sharing it with me? You may contact me directly at: marwd_124@hotmail.com Best wishes, Martin Wood Do you find this valuable? |

That is pretty interesting! Two descendants of Thomas More in a single wiki! How exactly are you related to More? By descendants of one of his legal wives or one of his "outside interests"? Btw, is there any record of births and deaths since the Tudor times which you used? More info please ... Do you find this valuable? |

I am related by descent. Sir/Saint Thomas More who is, on my mother's side, my 14 x great-grandfather. Although the name hasn't been 'More' in our line since the mid 1700's we have a family tree handed down in the family since that time. Thomas More had two wives, but his firsat wife, Jane Colt, was the mother of all his children. His early relations and descendants are well recorded in notes made by his father and in the family's 'Book of Hours'. Later descendants are recorded in the Books of Visitations, in family Pedigrees, in a few Parish Records, in the records of various Religious Orders to which members of the family belonged, in Court Records for Recusancy, and in in family documents preserved in County Archives or in private collections. I spent nearly ten years researching my book "The Family and Descendants of St. Thomas More" which was published in the UK by 'Gracewing' in April 2008. Do you find this valuable? |

Thanks. It was me who sent the pedigree to Prof Wegmer at the Centre for Thomas More Studies at the University of Dallas and he put it on their website with my permission. Otherwise it is copyright. I have since noticed a few mistakes in it. Do you find this valuable? |
