What happened to Catherine Brandon's baby?

Charles tells Henry in this episode that Catherine lost the baby. I might have missed something, but earlier in the season Catherine is upset and tells Charles that basically she doesn't want the baby and that it is best that it not live. I understand why she was upset, but I was just wondering if Catherine might have intentionally aborted the pregnancy or was it maybe just a foreshadowing that she would miscarry and the baby would die? I wasn't sure on which, so would like to hear anyone's idea on that.

Also, does Charles and Catherine have any more children? I only noticed the one son from Charles' previous marriage.

I think Catherine's comments were meant to be taken as her foreshadowing her miscarriage and not an indication that she would try and abort the pregnancy- I don't think that would ever have been an option for her given her religious opinions. As for Charles and Catherine's other children it was mentioned in season 2 by Charles that Catherine was pregnant but we never found out what happened to that child :)

I agree with Izzy, I don't think she would have done something to loose the child on purpose. That would go against God's commands, wouldn't it? And she is too religious for that.

As for other children: They frequently mention 'children', not just 'Edward', so more kids must be hiding *somewhere*.

Yes, i believe there was another thread dedicated to revealing the identities of Catherine and Charles' other children! In Season 2 we see Henry and Charles walking by the fountain in Hampton Court, where Charles tells Henry his wife is expecting. So that's at least one other child, and yet nothing has been said, or shown of it!

As for Catherine aborting her child, very doubtful indeed, for the same reasons mentioned. Religion was one of the most important things in these people's lives, they wouldn't go against their beliefs!

Thanks. That's what I thought about the religion issue so the scene seemed sort of stark. So it must have been the foreshadowing of the event to come. She could have also been so upset or stressed due to circumstances that that helped cause it, like may have been the case with Anne's pregnancy. 0  out of 13 found this valuable. Do you?

Hirst loves foreshadowing, the show is littered with it, he throws hints all over the place! In Seasons 2 and 3 when Cromwell is visiting prisoners in the tower when they are about to be beheaded, they always make some remark about him losing his head some day! Such as More once telling him 'There really is no difference if i die today, and you tomorrow'. Again with Lord Darcy, he says something to the effect of 'The King can strike off as many heads in the Kingdom, and he will strike off yours', can't remember the exact quote!

Another incident is Lady Salisbury's son, Reginald Pole's brother, he makes a similar remark to Edward Seymour concerning treason...

Even Henry saying things to Anne in Season 1 concerning her neck!

Anyway, i'm rambling and starting to go off topic, lol!
