Was William Brereton a Jesuit? (Most likely a Knight's Templar!!)

When studying Genealogy, the Majority of the Knights in my family were most likely the Knights Templar. They had to give up most of their holdings to the crown in order to take up the vows of Knighthood. Do you find this valuable?
