Questions for Myia?

Do you have something you are burning to ask someone who actually worked in the series? Myia Elliott has very kindly agreed to answer some of your questions. Leave your questions here on this thread and she will answer them (her username is harperharper). Do you find this valuable?

Hi Myia! Thank you very much for agreeing to answer some questions for us. I would like to know if you, and others that played ladies in waiting, had to have some "court etiquette" lessons before production began? Thanks again for taking the time! :) 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Hi Myia, I have often wondered; those of you who acted in the series, did you read up on Tudor history before hand? I'm not assuming that anyone was completely ignorant of Tudor history...but I've wondered how many of the actors read a Weir or Starsky book or two as research before filming or just because you became interested after getting the role?

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions!

Hey Myla whats up?
Just a shout out to hope you are well and a quick question. While working the set was there any "phenonemenon" going on? I mean was there any weird behind the scenes occurances that made the cast a little jittery as though somebody had opened Pandora's box and let out a curse or two? DId you yourself experience any bizarre things happening to you as you became more aware of the plots and did it affect you personally? Did anyone on the cast get a little crazy by being "in role" to such a degree that it created tension? I know I'm asking a more than a quick question BUT... Enquiring minds want to know. BTW Do you have another email adddress that you would share? Much love to ya.... The Oluwo

Hi Myia~
It is so wonderful to have the opportunity to speak with someone who was on the set of The Tudors - that would be an absolute dream come true for me!! I just wanted to know how it was working with the other actors on set - JRM, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Natalie Dormer?? How long was an average day of production? Did everyone get along well? What was the atmosphere on the set?

I just want to also say that The Tudors is the most magnificent show on TV - and if you still keep in touch with the producers, I would ask that you BEG them not to end the series after season 4!!! There is so much more material to cover and I know that the brilliant writing of Michael Hirst would keep us all on the edge of our seats through the reigns of Edward, Jane Grey, Mary and Elizabeth!!! Thanks again for answering our questions!

Hi there.. wow here i am at horible o clock before the gym.. so forgive me if the spelling and grammar is off.. am working my way through my first coffee!
yes actually we did have to know about etiquette. just like any role you have to do your research but we we also told about some of the basics like.. you never turned your back on the king.. EVER! only people close to royalty were allowed to touch them, so ladies in waiting were allowed to touch the queen and there was a hierarchy amongst the ladies in waiting. oh.. yeah and you could NEVER say no to the king, no matter what he wanted. hope this helps! x

well... it was amazing! Maria was lovely, and a pleasure to work with.. we spent so much time together that it is important to get along, and as actors understand the process she has to go through when she was preparing for a particular scene. johnny was..well johnny, evry good at commanding a room, but very relatable and sweet, fantastic to work with! infact the first scene i shot was with him in the series, so i had the nicest start and the director steve shill was lovely . Natalie what can i say.... an ABSOLOUTE sweetheart i love hr! she's fab! and has a wicked sense of humour!
the average days on production were long!!!!long long!!! but usually startat six, hair make up- then breakfact thaen rehearsals then shoot... then finishe at about eight but sometimes we went over. there were a coulple of days where we were there untill 11 which is tough when you have to be back up again at 4.30 but i would never complain about it, it was a pleasure on set!

Hi Myia,

I did try to post a question to you a few minutes ago and somehow I don't think that I posted it correctly on here-lol!
My question is do you have any upcoming movie projects or TV projects and what other famous celebrities have you worked with? Also another question is what was your favorite scene in the Tudors?

HI there! Meting and working with them all was fantastic, they were all lovely. Unfortunately for all you fans, this season is the last ( by this season i mean the season that is currently filming). but the good news is however that Michael Hirst- who i am sure you are all aware was the writer of the tudors (as well as the movie elizabeth) has written another series that is going to be produced after the tudors by all the same people.. Camelot.. so f you all like your kings and queens i am sure you will love this!!! also you should all keep an eye out for the series that will be coming out late fal called game of thrones.. its kind of like the Tudors crossed with lord of the rings!!!!

HI there Jodybug! i am having trouble working out this system here.. i am not the most technology savy, but i cannot see some of the answers i have written to people and some i do see, so it is confusing to keep track of!
I have been lucky enough to work with anumber of people i admire, JRM- i have never seen anyon work a room as well as that man! i worked on a movie recenly called TRiage, with Colin Farrell and Christopher Lee( Who is amazing... and a big flirt!!!) and Paz Vega. i have an upcoming project called National task force, which the are still trying to cast a number of people for as they are i talks with managers and agents but is is a comedy and very amusing indeed!
I have two seriously big auditions coming up for some projects both i think it is safe to say are my dream jobs, but i am aware of the statistics in this game! i am a happy camper working away looking forwrd to these auditions and the other projects later in the year! i hope the waffle of mine answered your question! x

Most Illustrious Lady Myla,
I was hoping to hear if there were any paranormal occurences that might have plagued you and the cast during the course of shooting The Tudors. I have heard some rumors but would much rather hear it from someone directly involved with the production. So, had the spirits of those who the cast portrayed come through anyone and make for some remarkable stories?
Your Humble Servant

Hello Myia,

First I'd like to ask how you pronounce your first name. It looks very pretty. :)

Looking at all your athletic skills on your resume, I wonder if you would like to do an action film?

I see you've done quite a bit of theatre. How is the process different to prepare for a TV/film role vs. a theatre role?

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit The Tudors wiki and chat with us!

Hi there! and aw... thanks!. it is pronounced 'My-ah'
yeah i always loved sports and only have a few things on my resume but i used to play a lot of competative sports at national level. i would love to do an action film, my goodness what fun- i am actually up fpr a role in one at the moment- ence me going to the gym every single day trying to put on muscle!!!
when it comes to the difference between film and theatre there are a few but not too many. with film all you have to do is keep a lot on the inside and keep the performance smaller, you have to be off script just as well as theatre but if you fluff your lines there is always another take. you need to be very aware of your characters thought process and progress and where they are mentally at each part of the script because things are not shot in chronological order! and you have to be aware of where the camera is at all times and find your light on you mark and work to the light.. these things can take years to perfect...there is a certain type of relaxation that allowes you to play
after hundreds of days on set.
theatre however is a completely different kettle of fish! although you still have to get to the essence and the truth of the character you are able to play the story in front of a live audience, so the rush is a different one! there are A LOT more rehearsals and you have to PROJECT and be hard! this is a skill that you need to constantly work on, and move in a different way.. bigger but still truthful.
