60. RE: Torrance Coombs as Culpeper, why Tory?

"How did Tory get the role of Thomas Culpeper?"Feeling relaxed in front of large audiences in public speaking is pretty much a family tradition. Also the extended family would gather to play charades and other acting games on feast days, so performing in front of a group was something he did from the cradle. It would just never have occurred to Tory to feel any form of stage fright. Like me, he is more relaxed the bigger the audience. People like to hang out where he is. It is not that he dominates, or is the centre of attention; he just attracts. Do you find this valuable? |

well now I am feeling a bit like a stalker LOL.....most of Torrance's tweets that I have posted were just random thoughts sent out to whoever was following him on Twitter. This next one was in reply to a friend of his but still I thought you might like to see it :"Oh I don't think beheadings come any cooler or sexier than mine." 6:58 AM Aug 24th from TweetDeck in reply to josrochon Do you find this valuable? |

"Sexy beheadings! That's the kinkiest thing I've heard in awhile! lol"I have been having a look over what is known about the historical Culpeper. There is scope for portraying both Henry and Culpeper as bisexual, though Culpeper may have been simply an unscrupulous opportunist willing to do anything, even give blow jobs, to further his ends. (In JPod, Tory's character Juniper was reknowned only for his skill at cunnilingus. Tory sympathetically portrayed the catemite in Troilus and Cressida. Typecasting?). Portraying an English king as bisexual might be too controversial. Brits may accept Henry's schism, murders and aduteries, but they would be offended by any homosexual behaviour. At the least, Henry might have had a crush/serious case of admiration for Culpeper. Henry treated Culpeper's rape as a joke. Henry commuted Culpeper's sentence from hanging, drawing and quartering to simple beheading. Tory has not leaked anything about whether this theme is explored. Given all that, if I were director/writer I would subtly hint rather than baldly state. It could have been played out much like Henry II's attraction for Thomas Becket in Beckett (one of the best films ever made). Hopefully it would go right over the heads of those who would be most offended. Do you find this valuable? |

I think he will do a great job ... I've read what he wrote on Twitter seems like they've already filmed the execution. So maybe his role is not that big. But still I think he will be ok. I can't say anything else because I don't know how he acts.

I don't know how much of that time he is on screen. I doubt it is a bit part. There was far too much fuss made of the casting. Do you find this valuable? |

It was just a silly joke on my part. Do you find this valuable? |

Torrance's latest tweet :"That's a wrap. Thank you to everyone for the biggest adventure of my life. I will never forget it :)" 9:03 AM Sep 10th from TweetDeck So looks like they have finished filming episode 5 which means they are halfway through filming. We should start to see more 'on the set' photos and perhaps some of Joely Richardson soon. Do you find this valuable? |

IMDB has been doing things to Torrance Coombs and Culpepper! He is know listed as being episode 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7 of Season 3 but not is Ep8! IMDB is royally screwing up (no pun intended) or we are all just going blind!

What about the other man she might have slept with, Francis D? Was it Thomas or Francis who was also a rapist?

"What about the other man she might have slept with, Francis D? Was it Thomas or Francis who was also a rapist?"There hasn't been any leaks of a character playing Dereham so I am not sure he has been cast. It was Thomas who was the rapist.
