"Does it really annoy anyone else there are no films about COA? Or TV shows in which she has been a main charector(except for 1 episode of a TV show in the 70s)"It does me, too. I guess because Katharine was a faithful wife and did not have Anne's charisma, or any scandals associated with her, most do not find her as interesting. Her time with Henry was much longer than any of the other wives: tweny-four years for her versus ten total for all of the others. I think, however that KOA is much underestimated. She, too, was a strong, well-educated woman ahead of her time perfectly capable of standing up for herself and being outspoken when the things that were important to her were at stake.Even according to Anne, she always got the upper hand in an argument with Henry. Katharine was capable of ruling a kingdom in Henry's absence and presiding over an important victory over the Scots at Flodden. she liked to dance when she was young; she enjoyed playing cards and liked fine clothes. But she was also charitable, even to her enemies: she once told her ladies not to denigrate Anne, but to pray for her as there would be a time when they would have cause 'to pity and lament her case.' She knew Henry in a way that none of his other wives ever would. I think a movie about her life would be fascinating Much more about her as a person was also documented which I think would really bring her character to life in a movie or a new biography. Unrforunately she is always portrayed as a stodgy, middle-aged, betrayed wife; there was so much more to Katharine of Aragon than that. Do you find this valuable? |

Yeah, I think it would be deeply interesting to see a film about her life. Her first few years as Queen, especially were extremely interesting. She was beautiful, intelligent, and passionate just like Anne, she was just as interesting as Anne, but no one seems to care about that. You're right Henry and her had a real emotional connection, they shared something he and his other wives never did.

I agree with you. She was a fantastic woman and deserves more attention than just being remembered as the jilted wife. Do you find this valuable? |
