Just wanted to let you all know that there is going to be a very exciting fan interview on Pop Tudors (http://poptudors.wordpress.com/) with the adorable actor Mark Hildreth who plays Cardinal Pole on this season of The Tudors.Showtime is asking its official fan community to contribute questions for the interview! Please post any and all questions here that you are dying to ask Mark / Cardinal Pole! Hello Mark, great acting and a fantastic portrayal first of all! In portraying a character based on historical fact, do you do your own research on your character? Do you feel the need to stay true to the historical Cardinal Pole or do you feel a greater need to present your own artistic interpretation of him?

Hey Mark, Great that you got a part on this great production. I know your character is a clergyman but that didn't seem to stop Cardinal Wolsey in season 1 or Cranmer in season 2 , so just wondered if you might be getting a romantic interest on the show.

Mark, many people have always wondered to what extent actors get passionate about their characters and sometimes they not only pretend to be like the character they are playing but also think like them whilst playing. Cardnial Pole is a strong and known historical character for his beliefs and actions. As an actor depicting his character, have you tried to think like him to be able to portray his strong beliefs and morals? Thank you.

Hi Mark. This question is from Lettice:History tells us that Cardinal Pole was born in 1500 and would have been approaching 40 at the time the King imprisoned & executed his family. I'm hoping you understood that as I just watched your Vlog filmed in Drimnagh Castle (right beside where I went to school!) and was highly amused at your "they're after me lucky charms!!" line, haha. Hi Mark! I first saw your acting watching "The Odyssey" way back in the early 90's. Loved it, and was so excited you were cast in "The Tudors"! My question is, did you gain a greater appreciation and understanding for English history while working on "The Tudors", particularly the history behind the Reformation? What historical understanding did you take away from "The Tudors" playing Cardinal Pole? Do you find this valuable? |

Mark: Did you consult with any priests, bishops or other people within the church structure, or spend time in cathedrals observing liturgies, or participate in any ceremonies, to get a feeling for that aspect of the character?
