"They're just rotten gits. They could at least show it at the same time."Particularly when they show other shows pretty much the same time as when they're on in the US. Do you find this valuable? |

i have an idea why dont some of you go and protest by the studio where the view is taped on tuesday let jrm know your feelings and there will be more publicity for the show. all of you have a point i dont understand why they cant put the show on the same time in the uk it is your history and its your right to watch the show first.

i think they put the show on at different times because the stars of the show have to promote the tudors. they cant be at 2 places at the same time. so this week jrm will be in america promoting the tudors on the view, martha stewart, and jimmy fallon., but i do believe the uk should be first to watch the tudors because without the uk there will be no tudors.

Showtime ...an American company commissioned the show to be made even if it is an Irish/Canadian production. So it comes down to the company that put up the money and owns the show. After it is shown in the US, it is then sold to other countries.

the tudor series is a show based on your history but its entertainment not a documentary and i know and most of the members here know the diference between fact or fiction but theres is no excuse that the tudors are on at a later date in the uk. i will give you an example that some company make a series about abraham lincoln and uk shows it first. it doesnt make sense. i dont blame my friends from the uk that they are a little angry i would be

I'm sorry but I don't get this line of reasoning. Showtime conceived of the show and put up the money to make it. Obviously they should premier it where they are located. British TV can and has done its own productions and aired them at home before they were shot off to PBS. No difference at all - and no one owns the subject matter after all.

Well, in a sense, yes. I did want to make the point that the whole sensibility of the show is really directed towards an American audience -- one that can more easily buy into the liberties that are taken with details, appearance, etc. (not because we're idiots but because many of us don't know that story as well). I'm thrilled that so many in Britain who are far more familiar with the history enjoy it and see it for what it is -- a mix of history and imagination.

In actual fact, the English don't "own" their history.....their ancestors lived it...it is true but many books, plays, movies and TV shows are written and made by people of many other nationalities. And the people that create them reap the monetary rewards. Hence Showtime has provided programming for sale and therefore they "own" the show and can decide where, when and how it is shown and to which countries.Besides the US is a mix of many people from all over the world including England...so it's their history too.
