Does this bother you?

In season one Thomas Boleyn tells Anne her eyes are like dark hooks for the soul. Does this bother anyone, because obviuosly her eyes were Blue ( Natalie) while the real Anne Boleyn's were dark brown almost black. Are there other instances like this? 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Are there other instances like this?Actually, when I first heard that I thought, "Ummm is that a goof? Did Hirst write that before the blue eyed Natalie Dormer was cast? And somehow it was just accidently left in?" It definately is pretty wierd in context. As I've stated elsewhere I don't think Dormer should have worn colored contacts for the role because actors loose the expressiveness in their eyes with colored contacts and that would have been a great detriment for Dormer since she used her eyes so much in her acting. I would have liked for Natalie to have had darker eyes, but blue eyes also can be full of expression and they are just so beautiful and captivating. Just like Anne's were. It never bothered me. I adored the line and I never take things like that too seriously.Natalie's acting overshadows her eye colour anyway. I know she is what drew quite a few people into the show and to learn more about the real Anne. Do you find this valuable? |

It never bothered me because I never took the "dark" comment as being literally dark. I dont know it just seemed more like a metaphor to me. Dark hooks to the soul works so much better than light hooks for the soul.

I didn't take the 'dark' as literally referring to the color of her eyes, but rather as being metaphorical. That scene bothers me though, because no daughter should ever have to have such a conversation with her father. It's obscene. Do you find this valuable? |

"I didn't either, to tell the truth i took the line to mean they draw a person in, which Natalie's eyes tend to do, they're so bright that you can't help but look at them. I would have preferred her to have dark eyes, seeing as how she had very dark hair already, but Nat was brilliant anyway, her acting really did take away from her appearance! Are there other instances like this?Natalie's eyes are light, to be sure. But light eyes can be "dark hooks", too. It depends - in what context is the word "dark" being used? "a dark force", for instance. I've had the pleasure, too, of looking into a lot of dark blue eyes, and they are soul-hooking. You can drown in them. To be honest, I never really noticed whether Dormer's eyes were light or dark until the subject came up in various parts of the wiki. She sure knew how to use them, what a great actress! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
