Lions, tigers, and ...leopards and panthers?

I recently read the book Royal Affairs by Leslie Carroll, which mentioned that one of Anne B.'s devices was a leopard and Jane used a panther, in addition to others of course. I've read quite a few Tudor related books, bios, etc., and have never heard of either. Does anyone know of any other lesser known devices/emblems of the other Queens or more info about the two above? Do you find this valuable?

Hi Jonesy7, I read the same book! I really enjoyed it.

And Yes, that is correct. One of Anne's devices was a leopard (which made it easy for her successor to alter it into an panther.) If you enjoy looking at emblems then I highly recommend browsing through some emblem books:

I might just be the biggest art geek in the world, but I think they are really beautiful.

In the "Life and Death of Anne Boleyn" by Eric Ives, it's leopards and honeysuckle vines, if I remember correctly. Do you find this valuable?
