Don't bother its rubbish honestly! Read the book if you must, its better than the film but you have to bear in mind it is total fiction. The film actually made me angry because its not only historically inaccurrate, but its also not true to the book its based on. It has Mary (Boleyn) walking off with baby Elizabeth (who was NOT a baby when her mother died but a toddler) to raise her. Whatb annoys me most is that people watch this tripe and think its factual!

Don't forget there were rumors earlier la while back that the 'writer' (whose name I wont mention) wanted to COPYRIGHT Mary Boleyn!! It was silly and SHE is planning (so I haveheard) to get a movie out about Katherine Howard and.or Katherine Parr BEFORE the TUDORS finishes the Henry VIII story on SHOWTIME

Really? That is so petty!

I like the TOBG as a book. But it is clearly a bias book full if innacuracies that could be forgiven if she didn't act like it was the truth. But she does have a good writing technique, at least i enjoy it. The movie, however, was awful! I like all the actors who were in it, but none of them did anything for me at all. I was falling asleep. The script was awful and sometimes confusing. It didn't even follow the book!

Yeh there was a long discussion about this!!! The author, Ms Gregory, did indeed mention something about copyrighting Mary Boleyn, as if she made her up! She said something about the tudors show stealing the character from her. I cannot put into words what I now think of this woman!!!! I think her books are good to read, if you take them with a strong pinch of salt and are aware they are not historically correct, but the woman actually sees herself as a historian - she clearly is not. Deluded or what!!!! ooooh rant over (sorry guys!) x

I wouldn't mind this movie so much if it had a massive neon disclaimer at the beginning claiming the events are complete fiction. A film doesn't have to be totally factual, but the movie makers should have been more responsible. Do you find this valuable?

I liked the movie because it didnt portray Anne as much of a villain as the book did. Was it great, no but I liked it well enough. I loved the costumes and I thought Eric Bana looked more like a king as opposed to JRM. But one thing I will discuss that I hated about his Henry is he portrayed him as an innocent manipulated man who was forced to divorce Katharine by Anne. Come on! I hated the book and couldn't even get half way through it, but I did enjoy the movie for what it was. Do you find this valuable?

" I did enjoy the movie for what it was. "
I think maybe this is the key--enjoy it for what it was. Actually, I liked the movie very much just as an enjoyable movie and not necessarily for its historical accuracy. To some point, it's conjecture anyway.

The interactions and sub-themes between the two sisters was very interesting. Also LOVED the costumes and Eric Bana is easy on the eyes. The musical scores and transitions were very nice as well.

I feel that the film would have a lot more appeal to the general public but can understand why historical purists wouldn't find it as pleasing.
