Who feels like they wanted to see more of Katharine?
Nov 9 2008, 3:23 PM EST | Post edited: Nov 9 2008, 3:23 PM EST
I find it fascinating that most people remember her for being pushed off her throne by Anne Boleyn but she was the daughter of Isabella of Castile. She was on conquest with her parents until she was seven years old. She led the english army into a victory against Scotland whileHenry was in France. I feel that maybe not this show in particular but many other depictions see her as the old woman set aside for infertility when she was a strong warrior, however blinded for her love for Henry. I think her audacity before Anne is just as interesting as her audacity afterwards. 14  out of 16 found this valuable. Do you?

She's a little horsey looking. I think it is better that we never saw her nekkid. 3  out of 20 found this valuable. Do you?

Catherine was beautiful when she was young. After having all these misscarriages of course you will be looking old and of course living with Henry and all the things he did to her of course you will be looking a little worn out. Out all of the wives henry had she was the bravest, smartest, and strongest

I agree, they always start Catherine as an old woman. She was so pretty when she was young, and such an inspirational woman/queen.
I'd love to see a production just about her, focusing more on her youth!

Katherine was one of the most beautiful princess in her youth, more than that she was intelligent too. It's very unfair she is always shown always as a old woman. If people knew everything she passed through since her married with arthur, maybe they would saw what strong and warrior woman she was.

Although I am a huge Anne Boleyn fan, I have always admired and respected Katherine very much.
It makes me mad though, that they always portray her as the wife that was pushed aside: older, and infertile. I wish they would show the side of her that made Henry marry her in the first place: her strong will, and the fighter that was inside her.

Katherine was beautiful when she was younger. Are you referring to the actual KOA or Maria Doyle Kenneddy that played her on the show(who i think was very pretty too) You have to remember none of these actors really look like the characters they play. People seem to remember her as an older women whom wasnt that attractive but she was married to Henry the longest out of all the wives and bore him six children only one whom survived infancy the stress of that would take its toll on anyone. Oh and I dont think twiztedempress was referring to seeing koa *nekkid* in his post. 9  out of 11 found this valuable. Do you?

I'm huge fan of both women and both of their daughters, i can't call one of them my "heroines" because i think both made mistakes, but they were great queens.

Great choice for a thread,I totally agree and would love to see Henry and Katherines younger years made into a film. She was a fascinating strong women and their early years were happier ones. Katherine and Henry had a very good relationship at first and he confided trusted and respected her. Henry appointed her regent of England when he went to France , when the scots invaded England Katherine in her role sent the army to meet the them and they defeated the Scots. Wouldnt it be fascinating to see all this in a film?!! 10  out of 12 found this valuable. Do you?

Catherine was probably the prettiest of all Henry's wives when she was younger. What a woman she was. I also think Maria Doyle Kennedy is stunning, especially considering she is much older than the most of the women in the Tudors! 10  out of 11 found this valuable. Do you?

I have always felt a little cheated about not seeing Katherine from the beginning of her marriage and even before. She was married to Henry for 24 years and there was much that could have been shown that would have been very interesting....many of which you have noted above. Would have been good, but unfortunately it wasn't done. :( But to the credit of the producers, they did show a bit more than many movies have shown of this great Queen. 6  out of 7 found this valuable. totally agree. But then again those who make movies want to sell sex and scandal...I wish they would start with the very beg of KOA. She deserves a movie all her own.

I feel we should have seen more of her, and when she was young. And with the correct colouring! Ive only seen 2 films/tv shows etc. that have the correct colouring, and usally they have the SAME actress that plays her at 16 as the one who plays her at 51! Will we ever get an accurate adn good portrayel of Catherine? If I had the money to make one myself, I honestly and seriously WOULD 7  out of 8 found this valuable. Do you?

I think series really should have started a bit before, that way Henry would be the appropriate age. In the series hes around Anne's age, in reality he was 10+ years older than her.

Also I think that if the series had shown Henry and Katherine in love, then the viewers would have had more sympathy for Katherine. They make it seem as if they never loved each other.

It is very frustrating that the story always starts with the issue of AB and KOA. I think to really show the historical views it would be lovely to see A story starting with flashbacks of KOA the Infanta of Queen Isabella of Castile. The warrior princess. She was very much an observational learner. She was intelligent. And the story gets so watered down flashing forward to after she has had 6 six pregnancies...and doesnt show the love they did have. Henry VIII did not marry her because of his dad. He made the choice for many reasons. And at one time yes he loved her. I believe her to still be the true Queen Of England IMHO. And I respect her the most of her love forgivness, her bravery and above all the women she was. I do so hope someday they give a show with starting from the beg,
But sex sells. Scandals make more money. And this is how it continues to be portrayed.

The coloring is a hard thing to get down, Hollywood tends to over do the red/auburn. But as far as coloring goes, Isla Fisher seems like a fit to me.
