I felt the most sorry for Elizabeth. Imagine having your whole life change in an instant, not because of some natural cause but because of some scheming politicians and an off-balanced father. Poor thing probably didn't know what hit her. 5  out of 8 found this valuable. Do you?

I feel that while Elizabeth endured many hardships, those things made her the strong person she became. She being the greatest Ruler of the Tudor Dynasty. Yes it is so very sad that her pig of a father did not even blink at the thought of killing her mother leaving her without. Or not wanting to even have her around. But something in her whether part genes, observational learning. She did a damn good job as Queen Elizabeth.

She's qouted as asking her governess (Lady Bryan) "Yesterday I was the Princess Elizabeth, why am I today The Lady Elizabeth?" Not the exact words but the jist of them. I agree that everything that happened to Elizabeth made her the Queen that she was, some people break under trials, others become stronger. In Catherine of Aragon's words "You don't come to the Kingdom of Heaven but by sorrows."
I've begun to think Elizabeth was more like Catherine of Aragon that Anne Boleyn in this.

Yes she did say that (or words to that effect!). Considering she was only three I think it shows her intelligence and sense of 'royalty' even then! Bless her, yes I feel sorry for her too, poor little thing. But as Funrod said, whatever happened in her life the result was that she was one of the most memorable uk monarchs ever, and she bought a 'golden age' to her country. I admire Elizabeth very much.
It musn't be forgotten either, that Mary was also left without her mother. Even though her mother was still alive they were not allowed to be together, and she was old enough to really feel the pain of that.
Blimey, Henry really was a piece of work wasn't he?

Again i agree with you!
Elizabeth was very intelligent and she had a sense of persuasion.
she is my second queen(ruler) i admire most behind only of empress Theodora.( i love her).

I think the impact were more in Mary because she knew her mother a 17 years, she knew that KOA fight for her and their marriage was true, she was daughter from a true marriage, she was beloved for all country known in europe as beuatiful and intelligent princess and suddenly she had to abdicate her faith, her title, her royal blood. It's not easy.
