"I'm halfway through the season so far and was wondering what everyones favourite/least favourite scenes are?"If you are only halfway through season 2, I don't want to ruin anything by posting my favourite scene. But I will say that it involves Princess Elizabeth. Do you find this valuable? |

lol. You can say I dont mind. I thought the scene where Henry went to visit Princess Elizabeth when she was a baby but didnt ask to see Mary was really sad. I felt really sorry for her.

I enjoyed all the scenes with Peter O'toole as Pope. To me, he stole the show.Other poignant scenes were Bishop Fisher's last words on the block, Thomas More's wife visting him in the tower begging him to sign the oath, Thomas More's "trial", Henry's reaction to More's death, Anne begging Henry to spare her, Anne confessing to Cramner with Kingston as witness and her final moments. I was a little turned off by Henry devouring the Swan pie! LOL Do you find this valuable? |

Oh yes, the scene where Fisher says hes just a man who is afraid of dying and the crowd all kneel and say "god bless you" was particularly moving. The totally abject Anne as she watches the innocent men especially her brother being beheaded, as her father tries to ignore it, grabbed at the heartstrings. My least favourite would be the rape scene between George & Jane - just a terrible act of violence which as I said on another thread - blackens his name because people will believe it as being true. My favorites all involve Henry and I could go on and on. But if I had to pick it would either be the scene where he is learning about the details of Moore's execution and decides to go easy on him or his prayer concerning Moore or..........

I loved the scene where Katherine's last letter was read aloud and everyone's reaction was seen, Mary's reaction got to me, and Henry's reaction (though fictional) was somewhat touching.I also enjoyed the scene when Mary told Anne "I know no queen save my Mother." 1 out of 1 found this valuable. My favourite scene is when Katherine is dying and she sees Mary because she was so happy and it was very touching.I didn't cry when Anne was beheaded, but I did cry when Anne is in the tower and she sees her father leaving and she smiles at him and he turns his back on her, and Anne's smile fades. It is very powerful and heart wrenching, so i like that one too even though it is a sad scene. I also like the scene where Thomas Boleyn notices Henry with Jane at the joust and then he looks over at John and Edward. I just love his expression, realising that they are threat to his position. I agree with MsSquirrily for my least favourite scene, the rape scene, it was just unnecessary and they went too far in my opinion. Do you find this valuable? |

"I loved the scene where Katherine's last letter was read aloud and everyone's reaction was seen, Mary's reaction got to me, and Henry's reaction (though fictional) was somewhat touching.I too loved the scene with Mary as she stood tall and looked her straight in the face and told her that. Also the scene when Mary gets the few belongings of her mother had me crying When she saw her father and he just bowed and left. Made me cry I cried like a baby when Henry was reading the letter after COA death The scene where Anne learns of her death and delights in it sickened me so therefore when she catches him with Jane S I couldnt help think NOW you know what that feels like QUEEN ANNE. OT Love your new default. I need help changing mine 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

And to think, these events were a common occurrence in tudor life. It was their form of entertainment. They say that there was somewhat of a carnival atmosphere with the public executions.A friend of mine who went to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia said they still have them there although he only saw a thief having his hand cut off.. so it still happens in some parts of the world. Thank goodness we have done away with things like that. Do you find this valuable? |

I know!! It is terrible and frightening to think it still goes on in some places. Is horrible to think people went to view the executions take place.

My least fave was when Katharine died, watching a scene you knew would happen and didn't want to happen was not fun. My faveourite scene was with Elisabeth when she listened to two ladies speak of her after her father annuled his marriage to her mother, and calling her a bastard, not that I liked to see Elisabeth being told that so bluntly and cold to her face so to speak, but her expression and what I imagine she felt at that moment, and knowing she later became the greatest tudor monarch, priceless moment. Hard to say, so many great scenes....the only times I cried were when Catherine died and we see Henry's touching (even if incorrect) reaction, and when we see Anne's flashbacks to her childhood--oh god were those sad and heartbreaking! My favorite scenes almost all involved Mary, my favorite character, especially since they were almost like scenes out of one of my favorite historical novels, "Mary, Bloody Mary" (which focuses on her life from age 10 to 20, when Jane Seymour is queen). I particularly loved the scene when she first comes to Hatfield and looks around at her new, sad surroundings and sits on the bed and breaks down--so heartbreaking and tragic! I also love it when she sic burns Anne, when she sees her father, and when she picks up Elizabeth--though it drives me insane that they didn't give us a good closeup of her holding the baby! I also More's execution (esp. with the dramatic and artistic bloody cross) and all the scenes of Henry angsting about him, especially when he has all the flashbacks and kisses the cross, etc. My least favorite scenes are probably the rape (I really dislike George on this show) and making Thomas More actually say those things to Rich, when it was almost certainly perjury in reality and made no sense. But then again More was always OOC-ly naive on this show... Do you find this valuable? |

I thought all of the execution scenes were very well done, especially Anne's as Natalie's performance was fantastic, the set up was pretty historically accurate, and I was touched by the emotional side-stories of two of the spectators: Sir Thomas Wyatt and Charles Brandon. Wyatt: the spurned lover who set his lady love free to pursue her ambitions...and now had to watch her die a violent death while he himself had escaped the same fate. Brandon: even he brought to his knees to pray for Anne's soul and perhaps realizing through the poignancy of her last words that maybe she wasn't such a "whore" after all.I really took a dislike to all the scenes involving Brereton...I mean, the assasination attempts were just too soapy for me---like an episode of "Passions" set in the Renaissance (also, the made up drama just wasn't needed!) Also, the whole bit with him naked at his arrest and actually pleading guilty to the charges (voluntarily and sans torture at that) just completely, as Ms Squirlly has pointed out before, discredits the memory of the actual person. My fave scenes are:1) Thomas More's execution, I like how it keeps switching from Henry to Thomas, the acting was brilliant and I loved the whole blood and cross thing 2) Catherine's death, well acted and heartbreaking, I couldn't stop crying throughout it 3) The scene between Henry and Jane where he asked her to be the Guinevere to his Lancelot, because its so sweet and gentle and light compared to the rest of the series and it's rather refreshing 4) Little Elizabeth listening to "the world is a slippery place" speech, because I like seeing little factors that build her up into being that magnificent queen she will be in the future Do you find this valuable? |

Obviously his memory was already discredited history-wise, what with them saying he was a freaking ASSASSIN for goodness sakes, so by the time he was confessing it didn't really bother me..... "My least fave was when Katharine died, watching a scene you knew would happen and didn't want to happen was not fun.Oh, that scene with Elizabeth was my favorite, too! I loved when Lady Bryant was discussing marriage in front of her, and the look on Elizabeth's face was so studied. I know the little girl was a little too old, but I don't think you could have taught a younger child how to look like that. Didn't care for the rape scene at all. And if they could have added a scene from a favorite of mine, I would have loved for them to have added a scene from Mary, Bloody Mary by Carolyn Meyer. In the scene, Mary is walking with Elizabeth, looking at her as like a surrogate mother. Chapuys is also with her. Suddenly, Elizabeth cries out, with flowers on her hair, "Look at me! Look at me! I'm the queen!" Mary smiles indulgently, but Chapuys leans towards her and tells her to take it as a threat. Mary stammers that Elizabeth is just a child, but Chapuys tells her, "Be sure your enemy has marked herself." That scene sent goosebumps up my arms! Do you find this valuable? |

I'm only halfway through, Fisher and More were executed in the last episode but I thought that was really well done, definately my favourite scene so far.My least favourite, like others have said is the thing with the Pope trying to have Anne Boleyn assassinated, artistic licence taken a bit too far in my opinion!
