I still bet it's good fun being all dressed up in this medieval Tudor era outfits n just standing there and pretend to be chatting. Just escaping into another century *lol* and as long as you have no text. But 6:30 is very early mornin...goosh! Hope they paid u well for it at least for chasing you out that early! (-; How did you get those "role" do I have to imagine it like a casting? *lol* I just wonder. So should we keep an open eye for you once the DVDs for Season 3 is out? (-; Do you find this valuable? |

It's great craic! That's a grand time to start in the morning. The crew of some films/television series sometimes ahve to be up and ready before that time. I was on a film feature set where I'd be up at 5 in the morning and we'd all have brekkie in this hotel near the set (including the director). We'd be on set for 7.30 - 8 am. It's tuff work but I love it. I hope to do more of it in the future. For the role last year, I simply filled up a application form and didn't go to the casting because this was at the last month of filming. Did the same this year, but I haven't been called in yet. However, I may not be able to do it some days as I've recently become employed in another job. Do you find this valuable? |

Hi there, I went for the open casting in June in Liberty Hall for Season 4 and got a call to work as an extra in July. I was thrilled because I really wasn't expecting to get anything from it and just went in to try my luck. Was offered 2 days work first, it was then changed to one day as the scene wasn't supposed to have women in, so women weren't needed for that scene. I was happy enough doing the one day as I wasnt expecting to get any work. First day was up at Powerscourt House, although not in the house, was more like a barn outside, but made up to look like a hall during a banquet. I was a Northern Lady, we had to sit around the tables eating and drinking and generally making it look like we were having a good time. The Queen was dancing with other girls while we sat. Second time I was called to the studios to do a day there was a northern noble that time and even got to wear jewelery, very posh LOL, another banqueting type scene, the French ambassador came in to speak to the King while we looked on. The last day I did, which was last week, was in Humewood Castle we were outside in the court yard, it was a very long day. Had to be at the studios at 5.40am to be picked up by a bus that was taking all the extras on an 1hr 40min journey to the castle. This time I was a Northern Laborer, they out fake dirt on my face, hands, arms, anywhere that was showing!! We were all asking for the Kings forgiveness and had to bend on one knee as he forgave us and then Lady Mary came out and we all bow heads and pray for the King. This was shot from many different angles, so the extras didn't finish till after 8pm, a very long day to be standing around. Mind you some of the main actors that day weren't doing much either, as they didn't have any lines to say, so its not always as glamorous as it seems. Many of the costumes aren't exactly comfortable to wear either, especially if you have them on for 8 hours. All worth it in the end though LOL

"All worth it in the end though LOL"Thank you for posting about your experience! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Do you know what it was, that you guys had to beg forgiveness for? I'm also curious if they made JRM look a little more voluminous. In some of the pictures of him in Season 4 that have been posted, it almost looks like they padded him up, so he appears to have a gut! :-) Do you find this valuable? |

"Thank you for posting about your experience! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Do you know what it was, that you guys had to beg forgiveness for?Hi Nofretete, I think we were begging forgiveness for being so stupid in trying to rebel against the Kings actions when he was taking away wealth from the churches and stuff. We were from the North and a guy spoke on our behalf. The only thing I can really see different with JRM from looking at photos in previous seasons is that his hair and beard have grey streaks running through them and he also walks with a limp and winces in pain when he get up steps, but maybe hes done that previously. I don't know if he has extra padding added, he wears a lot of layered clothing, so I suppose that would make him look bigger anyway. He still looks nice LOL Do you find this valuable? |

You guys must have been the last ones to realize the revolution was over! lol It sounds like King Henry is definitely getting old, if not really fat. Did you see any of the other actors aside from JRM and Sarah Bolger? Do you find this valuable? |

"Did they make him grey as well? And what about Sarah Bolger? Mary should be in her thirties at that time, but she is much younger. Her clothes may be getting a bit more serious looking though, not as childish looking IYKWIM. Do you find this valuable? |

And clothes and dress can make a big difference in perceiving the age of a person. Your own clothes looked very fun to wear, extragirl. Which outfit did you enjoy the most? "They may look like fun costumes to wear and they were to a certain extent, but extremely uncomfortable after a few hours. The first dress I was given to wear in the first scene I did, was so heavy and thick and I also had a thick underskirt underneath, I looked enormous LOL This is the one I'm wearing in the photo with the red corset over it. I ended up wearing the same dress again, only the 2nd time they jazzed it up with a nicer corset and gave my earrings and a necklace to wear, my hair was nicer too, even got to wear make up, sorry i never took a pic. 3rd outfit was probably the funniest, my shawl was made from a towel dyed grey and they put dirt on my face, neck, arms, even under my nails!!!! When the make up girls were coming around to re-do us, some of the girls were trying to hide from them cause they didn't want any more dirt on them LOL Do you find this valuable? |

Thank you extragirl for sharing your experience: it sounds so fun! Except for the clothes part... I remember when I was an extra once we had to wear the same clothes the whole week of shooting, no need to say they were not cleaned at all during the whole time! Kinda smelly in the end... LOLI hope you'll get a call for a next time! Somewhere you're talking about "the Queen" dancing... I guess this is Tamzin Merchant/Catherine Howard, am I wrong? How did she look? LOLHi Lady-Anne, When did you work on it as an extra, was it recently? Where were you and what was the scene for? Yeah it was Tazmin that was dancing. Think it was her ladies in waiting that were dancing with her, not 100% sure. She looked lovely, shes such a pretty girl too, but she looks so young! I don't envy the girls that had to do all the dancing that day, the room was so hot and stuffy, with candles, flames and lights all going. I only had to sit and I was roasting!! I think the scene was a banquet to celebrate their wedding in the North. Would that be right?? The King is presented with a present of a big tower of jellied eels by the Northern people!! I had to sit by them most of the day and they were smelly! Do you find this valuable? |
