Jeremy Northam's nomination for an award
Jul 4 2008, 11:10 AM EDT
Dear friends of JN! If you know anyone who is on BAFTA's voting commettee, please advise them to nominate Jeremy Northam for his brilliant portrayal of Sir Thomas More. The justice needs to be restored after he has NOT been nominated for Emmy. I feel so deeply disappointed, and we can do with a little bit of lobbying! 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I am not sure where you got that JN hasnt been nominated for an emmy. I went to the emmypage and it says the nominations will be announced July 17th?

I read the info, bwlass put on Jeremy's page on IMDB.com yesterday, stating that he wasn't among the finalists in his category, but couldn't find that info on the Emmys site, either. At any rate, in case you all are interested, I've created a new Buzz poll which will enable us to vent about the alleged injustice on the People's Choice Awards site. It will be up for six days. I relied on the Bwlass information which she posted on IMDB as well as on Popwatch. I have not checked it because she is always so maticulous and good at getting information. I think we all took it for granted. Bwlass, please let us know whether your information was indeed correct and the source reliable.

If you can disrepute this source we will all be only very happy!

Ok I found the page that bwlass quoted : http://goldderby.latimes.com/awards_goldderby/2008/07/news-emmy-18742.html

goldderby.com supposedly has access to the semi-finalist lists and JN, JRM & ND have all been left off the lists. The only actor who made it on a list is Peter O'Toole and the Series itself is on the list for consideration.

Interestingly, reading that article that says they have access to two of the secret judges, the series doesnt have a chance of being nominated either. :( Do you find this valuable?

Yes, sad is not it? And so unfair... Fairies like fair play... :)
Bwlass is usually very well informed. I just hoped this time she was wrong, but no such luck!

I'm so P.O.ed by this terrible news! I don't think there's anything that could have gotten me in more of a fool mood on a Saturday! :P
I can understand if the judges passed over JRM this year, but for them to not even get Jeremy Northam or Natalie Dormer to the semifinals for a nomination? That's such an outrage because their characters were killed off this season, so they won't get another chance like JRM to knock their socks off next season. It's so ridiculous that whats-her-face from Dirty Sexy Money got on but Natalie didn't! (sorry I don't mean to offend anybody how likes DSM, but Natalie should have had a nomination over her IMO)
Aaaaagggghhhh!!!

Oh, geez, I'm p.o.ed too! Natalie's role was not one that just any actress could have portrayed. And Dirty Sexy Money? Crap.

Interestingly, today ( July 6th) is the anniversary of Thomas More's execution. On the day we commemorate More's beheading, it's unfortunate that we have to see his latest, and very magnificent onscreen portrayer get cut out of an award nomination. Maybe both Jeremy and Natalie will fare better in other roles at other times as other actors have. It's the Emmy's loss if they didn't want to nominate them. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. I've just e-mailed the BAFTA Awards on their behalf, folks. I watch the BAFTAs on BBC America, incidentally.
E-mail may be sent by the following site: bafta org/contact-us.html.

As I mentioned in my Buzz Poll on the People's Choice awards site, the Emmy committee wouldn't know true talent if it came and threw up on them. :(

Imponthenet, thank you for the address, I will send a letter too.
Yes everybody, it is said that real talents have not been recognised. OK, it is right that Jeremy Northam, Natalie Dormier and Doyle Kennedy earned OUR respect and will have their awards some other time. But it still hurts, I believe, when you are overlooked undeservingly.
Please, vote for JN to play Henry Higgins if you believe, as we do, that he will be a brilliant Prof, even more that he can sing and dance. Here is the address:

You're very welcome, AG. I guess our online campaign isn't over yet.
I've already voted in favor of Jeremy as Henry Higgins. The Cambridge Professor's son would naturally bring the required amount of scolarliness to the part, and while I'll admit to being a bit tired of all these remakes, I'll admit, he'll probably be much cooler and calmer as Higgins than either Rex Harrison or Peter O' Toole.

I appreciate the clannishness of award presenters of a certain nationality wanting to honor their own, however. It happens. If they wanted to honor Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney for their roles in "John Adams", I can be forgiving because that was a great miniseries, too, and it was only for one season. "The Tudors" will apparently be around for a little while longer, although I regret the apparently unfavorable outcome where Jeremy and Natalie are concerned. Maybe some miracle will happen. Who knows? Do you find this valuable?
