What do you think about John Seymour?

Do you think John Seymour will be portrayed as ruthless as Thomas Boleyn? Or will that honor belong to Jane's brother, Edward? 3  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

In season 3, of course. :-D Historically, he died not long after Jane became Queen, so I'm guessing if they make one of them ruthless, it will be big, bad brother, not big, bad, daddy.

Edward, I'd say, and possibly Tom. As you say, historically John Seymour was out of the picture not long after Jane became Queen but, even if he hadn't, I'd say that they'd still go with the brother(s), if only to avoid a rehash of Thomas Boleyn.

History says it is the brothers who turn out to be ambitious, with Edward eventually killing off Thomas. Power always does this to men. Do you find this valuable?

Like you said historically Poppa Seymour dies off soon after Jane takes over the role of queen consort, I'm wonder if the Tudors series will stick with that or if they'll keep him in the season a bit longer to develope his character more. If anybody has seen the scence posted on the Showtime website for the season finale tonight, there's a scene where John and Edward are watching Jane and Henry making out and Edward appears to come off as the more ruthless, family-ambition first in my opinion more so than her father. That scene was quite foreshadowing on the course of the Seymours raise to power, and just how ruthless in particular the Seymour brothers will take it.

I agree, if someone will be the "new Thomas Boleyn" it will probably go to one or both of the Seymour brothers. Sir John hasn't come across as that scheming or sneaky as of yet. I think he will fade into the background.
I have to give Nick Dunning kudos. When it comes to being ruthless, he's going to be hard to beat.

In all we have seen on the series so far her father is only concerned about Jane's happiness. It's been her brother Edward who has been the pushy, scheming bastard. So I expect it to be him that takes over in the place of Thomas Boleyn. Do you find this valuable?

John Seymour seemed like a pretty despicable character in history. He had an affair with his son Edward's wife which in the end meant that her children would bastardized and she was sent to a nunnery. When he died, Jane and his brothers didn't attend the funeral and it didnt seem like they were particularly bothered that he had died. Do you find this valuable?

I read about that; basically, Edward couldn't know whether his wife's children were his sons or his half-brothers so they were bastardized.

So which one is the lowest? Boleyn or John Seymour? Do you find this valuable?

In terms of the characters, I'd have to say Boleyn. While both men can be ruthless, as a father, John Seymour seems more caring towards his children. Granted, this isn't exactly difficult.

What about taking your sons wife as your mistress?

Well, the *character* hasn't done that, at least not that we know of. In terms of the real people, I'd have to do more reading to decide which of the two was worst.

I doubt they will run that story on the show, neither father appeals to me. Do you know if there are any books on Thomas Boleyn?

As far as the characters on the show, I think Thomas Boleyn is far worse. He doesn't appear to have any of the warm affection for his children that John seems to show for his daughter. One thing I remember is a scene where Anne has been ill. George motions to hug his father and his father is very stiff and without emotion in the embrance. Do you find this valuable?

Or when she miraculously pulls through and he's exulting that now she can go back to Henry.

I know! Wasn't that awful? For a minute, you think the man cares and then you realize he thought he had lost his prize cow.

And the look on poor Anne's face - no wonder she fell for Henry. However badly their relationship ended, he certainly adored her in the beginning and she responded to that and came to love him.
