If H VIII had approved of AoC the court would have raved about her "quaint" garb. I have to add that objective sources call her pleasing, etc. She was no glamour girl but she was not ugly. 1  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

"I also hope they don't make Anne of Cleves as her stereotype portrays her. Anne of Cleves is my favorite of Henry's wives. I predict Season 3 will open with Jane's marriage and Mary's submission. Maybe one or two episodes will be devoted to the Pilgrimage of Grace and the further dissolution of the religious houses. Then there'll be a 2 part midseason episode, part one being Edward's birth and Jane's death, part 2 being Henry's mourning, the trial of Thomas a Becket (do you really think Showtime would skip something so dramatically gruesome?). Then the second half of the season will be Anne of Cleves' marriage, divorce, Henry's meeting and wooing of Catherine Howard, and Cromwell's fall. This leaves material for season 4 being the downfall of Catherine Howard and Henry's marriage to Catherine Parr."
Well, you should perhaps take a more careful look at your history. In regards to Thomas Becket, there is no 'A' in his name, and this is a mistake that has continued to be made through the years. Secondly, I can assure you that the death of Thomas Becket will NOT be covered in Season 3, as he was killed by Knights of Henry II in the year 1170. Almost some four hundred years in the past... Sorry, I'm a history buff and the Feast Day of Saint Thomas Becket is also my birthday, December 29th... :P

"The thing of it was, Henry liked the petite, frail type of woman and Anne was not that. She was tall, sturdy and healty. I firmly believe that if Henry could have gotten past the fact that she wasnt his "type" she would have given him the sons he so desired. She was much stronger then Kathrine, Anne B, or Jane. "
by 20th century standards Anna looked pretty good she was tall and thin shed be considered a supermodel type if she lived in our century

Anna Von Cleves was nice looking but her court dress and the fact she couldnt play music nor dance made her very unattractive to henry i find it ironic that they have a musician play her in the tudors henry was a very good musician an accomplished musician and he was a fine dancer these things were important to him but then again im a musician myself so i can relate to henry on this point Insomnium rules!!

"I agree, she probably was stronger. I bet she would have given him sons, she was the athletic type. I believe that she liked to do the same things as Henry did, I suppose that is why she became his "sister"
I think her portrait is actually prettier than the others...Lesbian I doubt it...She just liked sports and wasnt into the frivolis stuff like the others..
Her smell...OMG...Lol!"
Somewhere I read that Holbein became a little infatuated with Anne of Cleves, thereby painting her with a little flattery.I think she would have had lots of children, sons and daughters if Henry hadn't been such a prig!! The smell was supposed to have come from goose fat which they used on her skin;because the crossing of the English Channel had roughend and dried her skin;and her women wanted to soften her skin.

Yes I know the language lol...If he couldn't get it up anymore, what was the point of having a 5th wife? In the six wives documentry Starkey says he was disapointed when KH wasn't with child after some months of marriage...?

its hard for a wife to get up the spout when the hubbie cant get it up !! i really think henry knew he was at this time impotent but he as a man and a king couldnt admit he had a ''problem'' yeah just blame it on the little lady what a joke if you look at this it seems to me that ole hal had this 'little ' problem for quite some time for i dont think he had conjugal relations with the last three wives . too bad they didnt have viagra back then but hell i think the syphylis was killing him anyway so its just as well Do you find this valuable?

"Is it documented that Henry had syphilis or is it just speculation?"
yeah its pretty well documented on this but what isnt but its up for speculation whether or not he had developed type 2 diabetes personally i think he was diabetic just as i think louis the fourteenth was louis died from gangrene in his legs from wounds that wouldnt heal henry dealt with the same thing his legs were gangrene infested the pain must have been horrid

"Ok Joss Stone is killing it as Anne of Cleves"
She can't be any worse than Annabelle Wallis as Jane Seymour. Jane really got the shaft this season. I wanted to see her character fleshed out more, as I've stated on other threads. Even in her birthing scene, they dubbed in Natalie Dormer's voice when she wailed over losing her last baby. Actually, I thought Joss Stone did fairly well in this role but, as everything else, this is just my opinion.

"Yes, I always believed that Henry had type 2 diabetes, too."
Henry had all the signs of a man afflicted with diabetes. Wounds that didnt heal. Mood Swings. The Shakes. unusual thirst . and ofcourse a gangrenish leg. and no doubt heart disease .
