I STILL can't figure out what thomas boleyn says

I've watched the episode 2 - 3 times (so sad btw), and still can't figure out what Thomas Boleyn is saying when he's being interrogated by Cromwell. He seems very disoriented and mutters something incoherent but impt. I can't figure out if Boleyn is being crazy on purpose (at that point ppl who pleaded insanity weren't executed) or has he really lost his mind? Would love to hear your thoughts / opinions! 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Maybe he was in shock that he was arrested. When he was at that gathering in the beginning of #9 remember how smug he was? He thought he was high and mighty - that he was untouchable. So when he was being questioned, he really didn't know what to say. At that point, I think he was trying to save his own life. I just don't believe that he ever thought that he would be in that position but Pimp Diddy (I meant Daddy) did have it coming. He's scum. I did closed caption on the TV and it was just words that didn't make any sense. The man was terrified. Maybe someone should have gotten the man a case of Preperation H . I sure that he needed it after that ordeal

Hey everyone-how are you? Yes he was in shock of suddenly being 'thrown away' by Henry & the court & was very nervously rambling-still trying to sound all mighty. I think I heard something to the effect of "....if they really did it, they should be punished...." but I could be wrong. I love your thoughts skystew; he is soooo totally SCUM.

I'm watching it now and so far he has said, "No, sir. You baffle me. My enemies have poisoned the air with their horrid lies. Whatever my sister has done is not with me or mine. I am innocent, Mr. Cromwell, I swear to you! I swear on the blood of Christ. I'm innocent."

Ok, never mind. I have not turned on my brain today.

THOMAS Boleyn said, I condemn them utterly. Utterly. All those men, whatever, who..what.. whoever deceived the King and slipped between the sheets with his lawful wife. I can utterly..for what they have done there can only be one punishment."

What a wanker!!! He just sold his children out to save his own sorry hide.

He is a wanker!!!! He is the one who should be beheaded but that would be too good for him. He should be boiled to death like that poor cook was (remember). Beheading would be the easy way out - I want him to SUFFER!!!! What he did to his children was child abuse!

I remember back in the first episode of this season when the cook - a very stupid cook, I must say; if you're going to poison somebody, don't do it at a dinner party, for Heaven's sake! If more than one person dies after eating the food, your chances of being caught increase dramatically - I was struck by the contrast between the two fathers.

Rouse took the job in the first place to enable him to provide for his daughters and he was willing to be boiled alive rather than accept the deal to name the person who set him to poison Bishop Fisher because he feared that there would be reprisals against him if he spoke out. In contrast, Boleyn, to the best of my knowledge, never takes an action that will benefit Anne or either of his other children alone. There is always some advantage in it for him. He's not going to inconvenience himself on their behalves and he would certainly never stick his neck out to protect them.

Yes, I felt sad for him as well. Can you imagine what was going through his mind as he was trying to process what Cromwell was saying to him? How awful!!

You're welcome! :)

He didn't mind having their necks on the line. What a horrid, horrid man! I'm glad you mentioned Rouse. Here he was, a simple cook and his love for his family and his loyalty to them was remarkable. To be boiled alive and still not wain is nothing short of heroic and amazing.

Did that really happen with rouse? Or is it made up by the writers?

as lovely as james frain's portrayal of mr. cromwell is, i'm somewhat comforted by knowing what happens to him after anne of cleves (wife #4). i wonder who will play anne of cleves on The Tudors.

Very good question! I don't know who will portray her but it should be interesting. I wonder if she's been cast yet?

Would that be the same George who faked a theft of Anne's jewells to coerce one of Anne's maids into leaving court? The one who raped his wife on her wedding night? The one who might possibly have been able to spare his lover's life (or at least some pain) if he had only admitted that HE was the one scrumping "poor Mark"? The one who said it was a shame Mary couldn't "join her mother" after Katherine died? THAT is the George you feel sorry for? :-[]
.

On another note: Have they given an indication in any of the episodes as to whether or not Thomas Boleyn knew his son was a sodomite. (Acquit me! That's not my word - that's what they used to call homosexuals.)

She has not. I did some research and they'll be filming in Ireland with Jane and they said A of C had yet to be cast.

Yes, that's the one. :-D

Actually, he set the Maiden up b/c Anne told him to get rid of her since Henry had started sleeping with her. He didn't want to marry Jane and his dad made him. She didn't want to marry him either, so that was very unfortunate for both of them. I did feel sorry for her.

George didn't know what happened to Mark. I don't know that he would have said anything on his behalf. but it seemed to happen so quickly that no one was aware of it until it was too late. If Thomas knew George was gay (not proven to be true in real-life) he may have thought marriage to Jane Parker would "fix" him.

Yes, it was hateful of him to make the comment about Mary and Catherine, but he was trying to put Anne's mind at ease. None of these reasons can right his wrongs, but he wasn't truly evil; he was just another pawn.

That's one of the aspects that has struck me about this series so far: very few of the main characters are "truly evil".

How many human beings are truly evil? Since they're dealing with real people, I'd prefer that they didn't make them out to be so truly evil - Philippa Gregory has provided quite enough of that - and gave everybody something at least vaguely resembling a redeeming quality.
