RE: New Members Introduce yourself here
May 21 2008, 9:34 PM EDT This is a delightful site, glad I found out how to join:) I enjoy reading about this period of history and am happy to say I'm hooked on "The Tudors", haven't been this excited about a TV series since "Twin Peaks"! The costumes are breathtaking. I have enjoyed being introduced to actors such as Nick Dunning, Jeremy Northam and Natalie Dormer, through watching this series. I have read about and viewed quite a few TV shows (History Channel, 6 Wives of Henry VIII, The Other Boleyn Girl, etc) on Henry VIII and his six wives and am very impressed with Ms. Dormer's interpretation of Anne Boleyn; she really hit the mark in bringing out Anne's complexities and her humanity (if I see one more portrayal of AB with sinisterly arched eyebrows and a sneer on her face I think I'll puke) and kudos to the directors for giving her the freedom to do that. Ms. Dormer has a very bright future and I look forward to seeing more of her work. I wish Nick Dunning had been given more to work with, his Thomas Boleyn seems (to me anyway) to be reduced to a nagging shrew/angry pimp with Anne (and everyone else) in the second season (so far; we have yet to watch him lose his children to the executioner's block). I wish I knew more about Mr. Dunning and his work (yes he's incredibly sexy...I'm a sucker for men with white hair), and Jeremy Northam's performance is riveting. I really enjoyed the Tudors bloopers, I sensed that Mr. Northam is a ham and the outtakes confirm it! I guess I've babbled on enough for now, looking forward to the next few episodes and hopefully beyond! 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

You'll find yourself in good company, as all of us love the actors on the show and are more than willing to raise our voices in support of Anne (you may find some are quite willing to rise up against Jane Seymour, LOL, since the recent shows have aired)! May 22 2008, 3:33 AM EDT Hi Everyone - I am so glad to be posting here because there are so many interesting people that I believe that between all of us we are going to be Tudor experts. I also think that we are going make great friends also. (That means you all over in England. I want to have dinner when I am over there! !Okay?) So thanks for letting me in. Maybe we could all do Starbucks in the mornings together before we open up our computers. Then we would truly be "the breakfast club' and toast Queen Anne with our cup of Joe! 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

May 22 2008, 12:51 PM EDT Glad to see you here, skystew! I'm like that Train song though, "Meet Virginia." "She only drinks coffee at midnight/when the moment is not right." That's me! Drinking coffee at midnight when I type about that other Virginia Queen, Elizabeth I! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

May 23 2008, 7:33 PM EDT Hello to all..... I must say that falling in love with the Tudors series has made me never want to learn so much about history as this has. Although somewhat sensationalized, so very intriguing. I just bought King Henry VIII 6 Wives....Anyone have any thoughts on it...I just started reading. Love reading the posts. May 26 2008, 1:23 AM EDT Hello All, My name is Elizabeth. I am new here and I love the Tudors. (sounds like the aa intro lol). Anyway, I started watching The Tudors right before season 2 started. I watched all the episodes on demand in one day and I was HOOKED. I have been able to watch the episodes one week before the actual air date b/c of on demand. I have already seen 2.10 and I cried like a baby. I am very happy to be here. Its nice to be able to discuss the show with people who love it as much as I do. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. May 26 2008, 11:59 AM EDT "I too have on demand and am 1 episode ahead. But I must say I am not a fan of Anne's.Well, when I started watching I disliked her as well. B/c of KoA. As I continued to watch I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for her. Only b/c I feel that King Henry treated all of his wives horribly. I understand that in those days that's how it was but I can't help but feel a little bad. What they did to Katherine was terrible but Anne didn't deserve to be beheaded. From what I have read It seems Henry loved Jane Seymour most b/c she gave him a male heir and died while in child labor so she wasn't around long enough for Henry to grow tired of her as he did with KoA and Anne. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. RE: New Members Introduce yourself here
May 26 2008, 1:18 PM EDT "Welcome to the Official Tudors Wiki.Hello, Since you are a moderator I thought I woulkd put this question to you and you could give me a knowledgeable answer. "The Tudors" is wonderful entertainment and I have been very impressed with everything about this production. One thing seriously bothers me. I was a history major in college and I don't understand why the screenwriters have taken the liberty of blatantly changing so many historical facts. For example, Gabrielle Anwars character "Margaret Tudor" was never married to Charles Brandon. He was married to Margaret and Henry's sister Mary whose first husband was the King of France, not Portugal. There are other huge mistakes as well. Here is a wonderful opportunity to teach AND entertain students but we supply them with incorrect information. Why? 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: New Members Introduce yourself here
May 26 2008, 1:45 PM EDT Hi CHG2 and welcome to the Wiki. Although I maybe a moderator, I am just a tudors fan like everyone else and have no special affiliation with the series. The series creator and writer has said ( and you can read interviews with him and others on the "the Tudors in the media" page) that his mandate was not to do another materspiece "type" of series because its already been done several times and quite well. This is a soap opera in a historical setting. Hence the reason he has taken dramatic license with the some elements of the story. As to the Margaret/Mary amalgmation...I have to admit it was one thing that really annoyed me too. But this is what Michael Hurst said about that : "I didn't want two Princess Marys on the call sheet," he said, because it might have confused the crew. " `Which one do you mean, Michael? Who do we dress?' ''. So it seems it wasn't done for us, the audience but for the crew who seem to have a problem when there are two people with the same name. Honestly I think they could have worked some kind of solution for this but....well they didn't. Despite this and a couple of other glaring things....like William Brereton ...being made into a potential assassin of Anne Boleyn....I think it has happily brought a resurgence of interest in the Tudors...to find out the truth. 4 out of 4 found this valuable.
