Word in our little circle of Tallis fanatics in LiveJournal is that he isn't to be found in the first two eps of Season 2. My guess is that Joe left the production entirely last summer to devote his time to his band (Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong) and that no effort was made to replace him. I have been searching for a complete character list for Season 2 in vain, so have not been able to verify this. Does anybody know? 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I was wondering how he was going to play into season 2. Tallis is considered the father of English music.
My hunch was due to all the inaccuracies of the show, he was going to be a "Mark Smeaton" like character (they combined Henry's 2 sisters into one fictional character, why not 2 musicians!) and have him tortured and executed along with Anne.
It's interesting that the actor may not be featured in season 2. Didn't know he had a band.

Joe's band has been getting a lot of attention. They hadn't even played more than a few gigs before a half-dozen labels started pounding on their door, looking to sign them. Took them by surprise! :) Joe had said he was giving up acting to be a full-time musician this year, but I was hoping he'd at least film one more season of The Tudors before he walked. **sigh**

A lot of people expected Hirst to smush Tallis and Smeaton together. I couldn't see it. Tallis is too important a cultural figure to get that kind of treatment. Thankfully Hirst understands that, and likes him a lot, and Tallis and Smeaton remain two separate characters with very different destinies.

If onlyl he could have extended the same courtesy to Mary and Margaret....

I'm happy to hear they won't be melding those 2 characters together as they did with Henry's sisters! Do you find this valuable?
