WHY DIDNT THEY GET HIM TO PLAY HENRY????????????????
Jan 13 2008, 7:25 PM EST DOES ANYONE ELSE AGREED OR DISAGREE? HE'S PERFECT FOR THE PART. HIS ACTING IS SUPERB FOR HENRY AT THE JUNCTION OF HIS LIFE, THE SHOW IS PORTRAYING HIM IN. JOHNNIE MYERS WOULD OF BEEN PERFECT FOR A YOUNGER HENRY AROUND THE TIME HIS BROTHER DIED, AND HE DESIRED KATHERINE FOR HIS WIFE. Steven's looks, physigue, and manner in my opinion are Henry. 7 out of 10 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jan 16 2008, 2:00 AM EST I agree - I think in stature and mannerisms...and he commands the nobility in is posture where John Rys-Davies is lacking that noble stature - but - he played Buckingham...and they killed him off too soon....:-( 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jan 18 2008, 1:11 PM EST Makes you wonder what the producers, directors, and writers were actually thinking when they put Johnnie boy up for the lead doesnt it? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: WHY DIDNT THEY GET HIM TO PLAY HENRY????????????????
Jan 23 2008, 8:10 PM EST I couldn't agree with you more! As sexy as Meyers is, my idea of Henry is more in the mode of Waddington, right down to his colouring. physique and attitude! Having said that, Meyer was incredibly moreish in some of those steamy scenes!! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jan 31 2008, 5:32 PM EST Did anyone see Ray Winstone's portrayal as Henry VIII? JRM is fabulous as Henry as he is a superb actor who plays a believable role; however he is young & he is supposed to be 40ish at this point of threseries. Ray winstone looked more like Henry in coloring, age & size. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jan 31 2008, 7:07 PM EST yes I did and he was absolutely brilliant; one of the best Henry VIII's I have seen. I also thought the whole series was superb as well! 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: WHY DIDNT THEY GET HIM TO PLAY HENRY????????????????
Jan 31 2008, 7:37 PM EST The more I read about what the creators of this show were going for, the more I think JRM is perfect. They wanted a "rock star" image and he fits it so well. Even his own words about how he knew he didnt have the physicality and so he made his character seem volatile & "dangerous"....full of spit and vinegar as they say. Do you find this valuable? |

I mean a ladies man, the Most Handsome In Christandom, Hissy Fits, He got everyone he wanted. Fits the typical Rock Star Profile. He quite Literally Rocked the Ages with His marrage to Anne Boleyn and the Beginning of the Church of England. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: WHY DIDNT THEY GET HIM TO PLAY HENRY????????????????
Feb 3 2008, 12:34 PM EST Ahh, quite a legacy to the Church of England and its beginnings... Not much difference to Catholicism is it? Yep, it is always politics... no matter if it is court or religious... and in Henry's case, he added gender politics as well… Do you find this valuable? |

Mar 6 2008, 1:13 AM EST I also agree. He has the coloring and the burlier physique similar to the portraits of Henry VIII, and would have been much better in the role. Do you find this valuable? |

Mar 16 2008, 11:43 PM EDT I am playing catch-up here with the series but I couldn't agree more and this was the subject of my original post, although I can't find it now, lol. It's possible it was offered and he turned it down not wanting to be tied to a steady role and could have options for movie deals we are unaware of. But I agree, whatever the reason he would have been perfection!! Do you find this valuable? |

RE: WHY DIDNT THEY GET HIM TO PLAY HENRY????????????????
Mar 20 2008, 4:22 AM EDT Steven would've been perfect for the role. When he was Playing Buckingham he looked effortlessly the part of a king and although I love JRM I did think he was miscast as henry. Another role i think Steven would be great as is King Richard the Lionheart anyone else agree? Do you find this valuable? |

RE: WHY DIDNT THEY GET HIM TO PLAY HENRY????????????????
Mar 25 2008, 8:28 AM EDT I agree MsSquirrly and LadyBritni. Although JRM does not fit the part of Henry VIII physically, his acting ability makes his role believable. I had a hard time seeing him as Henry initially, however as the series progressed I got more into his character and have no problem with it now. By the way, I've seen Episode 11 ON Demand. JRM now sports a bit of a beard and Brandon has some gray in his hair! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Apr 1 2008, 11:32 PM EDT "DOES ANYONE ELSE AGREED OR DISAGREE?Steven seems to like playing bad guys. Remember him in 'Last of the Mohicans"? He was an antagonist to Daniel Day-Lewis' Hawkeye, but he was a sympathetic character, great actor. Do you find this valuable? |

Apr 2 2008, 1:19 PM EDT i DISAGREE! he is BORING and doesnt bring any fire to a character! who cares if jrm doesnt look like henry he is way better looking and gives the part the fire and depth that eric bana lacked to give! its a series for entertainment not to be correct on every little aspect..and im happy they didnt pick a red head for the rule..my dad looks like stephen so that would of been a disadvantage for me . 0 out of 2 found this valuable. I agree he's not handsome, but neither, in just my opinion of course, was Henry VIII unless you like red-haired burly men, which Henry was in youth. He ran to fat in old age. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
