Jane Parker
"If anyone is interested, there is a brand new biography of Jane Parker/Boleyn , later Lady Rochford called "Jane Boleyn: the True Story of the Infamous Lady Rochford" by Julia Fox. I had never before seen anything written on her. This historically researched book purports to salvage the reputation Jane Parker/Boleyn has been saddled with. I haven't started it yet; I am still working on Alison Weir's "The Six Wives of Henry VIII"." There is a thread about Jane Parker and the new book located at the bottom of" The Tudors Historical Inaccuracies and Mysteries " called : "Jane "Parker" Boleyn, (Lady Rochford). I bought the book by Julia Fox but still havent had time to read it.

I'm reading " The six Wives ..."
Well, yes, from what I have been reading, there are many historical inaccuracies in the Tudors, but I found that many things as described in Fraser's books were exactly shown in The Tudors. Maybe those same moments are the ones that leave no doubt in history and maybe they are the ones historically accurate in the show. Reading the book I could " see" many scenes from the show. I will try to get the other book you mention on the wives, it is difficult here in Argentina since I don't guess there were many interested people until the show started ot The other Boleyn girl was released.

Concerning that Philipa Gregory
I have read many non-fiction, as well as historical fiction, novels pertaining to the Tudor period, as well as Elizabethan England. (I myself write historical fiction for fun, and hope to someday look into publishing) I would like to say, though, that anyone who becomes enamoured with reading Philipa Gregory is doing themselves an IMMENSE disservice. Well it is fine to embellish stories, add things, or pick a side in a historical mystery, Gregory plays fast and loose far too much (The Other Boleyn Girl, for instance, did every disservice to Anne possible, and somewhat supported the 'incest with brother George', and it disgusts me!) She (Gregory) has admitted to not being too concerned with much of the real history, and it certainly does show! Please read other authors who atl east have a better understanding of the framework of individual Tudor lives, and the time period. Stay away from glamourous Philipa Gregory books, the truth is just as, if not far more interesting! Does anyone agree with my distaste for Ms. Gregory's effort at historical fiction?

The Gloating Gang
"I don't think Katherine Brandon is supposed to be a reformer on the show. They even changed her name from Willoughby to Brooke! But I think Edwards wife was there because she had been involved in the plotting before. They showed a scene in the previews where she dresses up Katherine Howard to make her more appealing to the King, but I guess that scene got cut and wasn't aired?" I was wondering about her name alright because i thought she was a relation of Elizabeth Brooke (Thomas Wyatt's wife), but thanks for clearing that up Nofretete. But does the series really have to confuse us will all these inaccuracies and incontinuities, if we had seen Anne dressing Kathryn to make her more presentable, it would have made a bit (only a little bit) more sense for her to be with her husband, Bryan, and Brandon as they discussed Cromwell's demise, those little tidbits really are quite senseless at the best of times!

At first he was our naughty King in Shining Armor....
"After he showed remorse when he read Katherine's letter, defended Mary, and cried when Thomas More was executed....I warmed up to him again. And seeing as I am not a fan of Anne Boleyn(but love Natalie as her), I can't say I am angry with him now.
I've felt that Henry's relationship with was built on lust, want, and half-truths. Henry lusted for Anne and a son, being denied it, that churned up his wanting, in which caused the break with the church, and once he had Anne and no son...he didn't want her anymore. Even in 1534, he wanted to know if he could divorce Anne. Therefore, things Anne did were twisted and Henry believed them. However some things were true. She was rash and loud when it came to his mistresses and other matters in general, which weighed on Henry's nerves. And her hatred of Mary, also played on Henry's mind. But the fact that she gave Henry no living son and his want/lust for Anne was gone, anything that could get rid of her was fine to Henry and so she was beheaded on trumped up charges. It was terrible that happened to her but in the end it was a nasty case Karma." I am new to the Tudor historical facts. Was H 8 unaware that the charges for false and Anne was set up ? Is that why there was no remorse? Or did he help instrument her set-up with Cromwell?

What scene of dramatic license on the series bothered you the most?
All dramatic licence bothers me....;) I'm extremely attached to being true to historical facts, especialy when the facts are more fascinating than the results of any dramatic licence. As someone said in this thread, Margaret Tudor's life was much more interesting in reality than in the series, where "Margaret" is 1 - not true to reality, 2 - not that interesting given the fact that she's one of the less complex characters. Like many here, I also don't like the charactrisation of George Boleyn - he's shown as ...a gay rapist. I've been on the gay scene for more than 10 years and seing stuff like that on television angers me...is that how script writers see gay people? Sad for a series where human complexity is very well represented by other accounts.
