CASTING the actors

I'm live in Sitka, Alaska, population 8,500. In 1799 the Russians took control of Sitka from the Tlingit natives who had been living here for thousands of years. The Tlingits weren't too happy about that and there was a famous massacre where most of the original Russian settlers were killed. More Russians came and fought back, beat the Tlingets, and Sitka became the capitol of Russian Alaska. Sitka was the site of the ceremony in which the Russian flag was lowered and the United States flag raised after Alaska was purchased by the United States in 1867 from Russia. The flag lowering and raising event is re-enacted in Sitka every October 18 (Alaska Day). (That's tomorrow for me.)
It's a nice place to live, but rains a LOT, and everything is very expensive, food, housing, land, etc.
