He's a child and I'd say that watching Anne's murder changed his viewpoint on killing considerably.

His father, Cromwell, Henry, the Seymours - they're the horrible ones.

Natalie Dormer has been consistently amazing as Anne from the beginning but she surpassed herself in this episode. She showed the dignity with which Anne faced her death and the faith that sustained her as she waited for her execution but at the same time, she showed a very human Anne struggling with her distress over her coming death, occasionally grasping at straws in the hopes that she will live but knowing, in her heart, that she's doomed.
