Catholics and Protestants of Tudor Era England-Most Honorable?
"In reading Tudor era non fiction and watching films with a fictional slant, I've developed an opinion about the two Tudor era camps of Catholicism and Protestantism of the 16th century. When you look at the main figures of the Tudor era with some connection to Henry VIII, it has always appeared to me that the Catholic figures generally appear more honorable or live by the religious principles they promote. Two that come to mind are Catherine of Aragon and Thomas More. I respect them more as people and have more sympathy for their convictions. Saying this, I'm not Catholic and come from a Protestant background. Opinions? Which 'side' do you see as more honorable when you are looking at the principle Tudor figures?" I, ironically being Protestant, tend to favor the Catholics of the Tudor dynasty. Especially Thomas More, Bishop Fisher and Katherine of Aragon. Both Thomas More and Bishop More died for their beliefs and would not yield. Katherine was not executed, but she did suffer greatly beacuse of her beliefs and also did not yield. Also, I consider the Protestant reformation in England a bit appaulling. Henry VIII's reason for breaking from the Catholic church because he wanted to marry another woman so he could hopefully have a son and leave his wife who had done nothing but love him entirely. It wasn't because he was fed up with corruption within the church or because he felt they worshipped false idols, it was because he couldn't get what he wanted.

Smeaton accused and executed for having affair with the wrong Boleyn!
"I've been wondering where Jane is also. Regarding Brandon's son, a very informative person on another thread (actually, it was Holly2) told me that he and Mary Tudor had one son, who died. Then, he had more sons with subsequent wives. I know the series doesn't make that very clear. The son just pops up in that one episode. It's especially confusing because of they married Brandon to the wrong sister in the first season." Brandon had 3 children with Mary Tudor, 2 girls and a boy; I'm pretty sure of that fact. It was interesting how his son just came out of nowhere as the show portrays no children with "Margaret." Mary's offspring with Brandon were the Greys; Jane Grey is executed during Mary Tudors reign.

Difference between Tower Green vs. Tower Hill
To my knowledge (feel free correct me if I'm mistaken) there were only 10 known people to have been executed on Tower Hill (their names are on the Execution Memorial in the Tower of London). During the Tudor period, 6 of these were executed and they were: Anne Boleyn, Margaret Pole, Catherine Howard, Jane Rochford / Boleyn, Lady Jane Grey, and Robert Devereux.
http://www.hrp.org.uk/Resources/Memorial%20-%20executions%20at%20the%20Tower%20of%20London%20factsheet.pdf Those were the only people during the Tudor Era that were killed inside the grounds of the Tower. The rest were either executed at Tower Hill (so crowds could watch) or Tyburn.
