The costumes
"hello I am new and have never done this before. I am mad about The Tudors series and can't wait for the new season. I love Tudor history, and I want one of those dresses! How can I get one??" I was doing some research for the costumes page and found this website: http://tudorshoppe.com and they have some Tudor dresses you can order.

historical accuracy
hi & welcome to the wiki, howardfan :)
There certainly are some historical inaccuracies....check out this page on the wiki : http://tudorswiki.sho.com/page/The+Tudors+Historical+Inaccuracies we have been keeping a tally of all of them for season 1 and 2 but like you said this is an entertainment show & not a history lesson. The creators have tried to make it a fresh take on this instead of the usual masterpiece theatre type of production & make it easier for a younger audience to relate to.

The Tudors vs. The Other Boleyn Girl
I agree, very little personality. I think the biggest problem was that the story was just too BIG to put into a 2-3 hour movie. Also, I love Eric Bana, but his Henry compared to Jonathan Rhys Meyers' was weak. Bana may have looked closer to Henry, but he doesn't come close to capturing him like Meyers does. Bana has been used to playing a noble character too long to suddenly portray a man who threw temper tantrums like a child.
Also, I totally didn't like the whole rape scene in The Other Boleyn Girl. Or was it rape? I couldn't tell. I just know I scoffed when Anne told Henry she wasn't having sex with him, and then he informed her she would.
The Tudors may have its historical issues here and there, but The Other Boleyn Girl? Give me a break. The only thing I had to recommend it was the FANTASTIC costuming (I think I was most pleased that they exactly got right the distinction between French and Spanish hoods at court...I know, nerd).

How do you correct the historical inaccuracies?
I'm bugged because the "historical inaccuracy" site has an inaccuracy. Katharine of Aragon DID have an English ancestor, but it was not Katharine of Lancaster. Her English ancestor was John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster, 3rd son of Edward III. His second wife was Constance of Castile, whose parents were the deposed King and Queen of Castile. He married her to get a throne for himself and spent much of their 22 year marriage in fruitless efforts to regain it. They had one surviving child, a daughter named Catalina, who he married to the son of the "Pretender" King of Castile, making his daughter the Queen of Castile upon the death of the "Pretender". I'm skipping those names. Katherine of Aragon's English ancestor was therefore John of Lancaster. His 3rd wife was his life long mistress, Katherine Swynford. There is a '50s historical romance novel about her (and him) titled KATHERINE by Anya Seton and Alison Weir recently published a book in England titled KATHERINE SWYNFORD, which I'm just now finishing. The Plantagenets (the first being Henry II, married to Eleanor of Aquitaine), had reddish hair. Henry VII Tudor and his wife, Elizabeth of York (Henry VIII's parents), are both descended from John and his 3rd wife, Katherine, who had 4 "bastards", later legitimatized by the Pope and Richard II. Katherine Swynford, Duchess of Lancaster, would just "die" to read she is Katherine of Aragon's ancestress!!

The Tudors.
Hi- I adore history-I ought to as my PhD. is in History! While historically inaccurate the Tudors is a fascinating seriers, and I've been told beautifully costumed (I am blind).
As for Rome- It was fascinating and my son and I were addictedby the storylines and characters. Of course, also many innacurate portrayls-but truly enetrtaining. P.S. I use a screen reader- so sometimes it jumbles my letters and words around-so please forgive any errors. Melanie

is, the more likely it is to be based on historical “fact”. I simply could not make up the story of Henry wrestling, virtually naked, with the King
