| Joan Bergin, Costume Designer in an interview with Jill at ShowtimeFan, April 7th, 2008: "One of the things we want to reflect in the costumes is the changing fortunes of the characters. Anne’s costumes evolve more than anyone else in the show. Her clothes get more elaborate and elegant, to the point that she matches her King by the end of the season. She evolves from being despised as a young opportunist to someone who, by the time of her execution, people knelt down and took their hats off to. We went to a great deal of trouble to achieve that transformation. The material we used in creating her Coronation dress is 150 years old - hand-spun silver which we found in a shop in London. It’s absolutely exquisite. Costume plays a crucial role in visualizing the development of this character from young and gauche Daddy’s girl to this quite magnificent Queen. As an actress, Natalie has matched everything we put around her; it’s a terrific performance." "In a feature film, you might have three ‘set-piece’ gowns for Anne Boleyn. Here we have at least one or two every week! Anne had about 17 major costumes, including jewels, head pieces, shoes - all made from scratch. " |
| The Masquerade scene where Henry first notices Anne | Comments: The lacy skirt is nice but i think the bodice looks better as Jane's underwear rather than a dress. Would like the neckpiece if there wasn't so many ruffles. I don't think she suits white/cream. amore_angel I love this costume. Especially how Anne's banner fits her personality quite well, as opposed to Henry's honesty banner. - Leeloominai357 The Costume Designer said that this costume was inspired by Degas paintings of the Ballet costumes like "Swan Lake" & Balenciaga's corsets. It's a beautiful scene and when I compare it to other movies/tv shows of this momentous occasion where Henry first "notices" Anne, this one stands out. Is it perhaps significant that Henry kills and eats the 'swan' he first set eyes on in this scene? - MsSquirrly Love Anne's costume although I would have preferred just a bit of a sleeve. Isn't that "Honesty" banner more than just a little ironic? LOL Angelsun Yeah, I know, Anglesun, when I saw that I laughed. Anyway this costume is my favorite of all the gowns, it's so elegant and so beautiful. I would LOVE to be able to wear it just once. -Arabella_Tudor_Brandon Although Anne appears in many many gorgeous gowns over the two seasons this one holds a certain charm in my opinion. I love that even though a few other women are wearing the same gown it stands out so much more on Anne/Natalie. I love her hairstyle and makeup in this aswell - perfect for a memorable entrance. Natalie looks stunning! - QueenAnneBoleyn I admire alot of this gown because it brings out Anne Boleyn/Natalie's image very well,it's an absolute stunning gown. -Padri 81 What a nice wedding dress this would make. -GoldenAged.ER yddib. Reminds me of Swan lake. Very romantic and simple. No wonder Henry noticed her! The only thing I did not like about this one was that there were no sleeves, it would be a nice Sweet 16 though. -Anne'sCurls I want, want, want this dress!! What a way to make an entrance! I absolutely loved this gown! It shows that Anne was beautiful and elegant, like a swan! At first when I saw the Scene I did not like the frills around the neck but i now think that this outfit wouldn't be the same without it! Natalie looks amazing and her "Perseverence" Banner was very fitting! - A_Tudor_Lady As beautiful as this costume is, it's ludicrously bare. Even just a sheer white or gold sleeve might have made all the difference. -Brennalarose She's really beautiful!!hmm she reminds me of a swan.Probably that's why in the end of season 2 Henry ate a swan...Because he got rid of her... BoleynGirl I'm not too much of a fan of this costume. While it is a pretty thing, it is grossly inaccurate for the times. You see this kind of stage costume in ballets in the 20th century most, most notably in Swan Lake. In the Tudors era, it is highly inappropriate for a woman to go sleeveless. Not to mention that none of the Tudor era bodices ever looked like a corset. And the material for the skirts did not exist back then either. Also neck ruffs were made popular later in the Elizabethan era. ~Charlie-Beth-Hayden Whilst not accurate to the time period, this dress is stunning. It would make an amazing wedding dress. | Anne in the royal colour purple- not a colour of her status at the time -episode 1.10 | I like the colour but its a bit bland despite the golden pattern. It was meant to make a statement but i think it failed. amore_angel My problem with this dress is that although it is purple (the royal colour) and so signifying her rise the neckline has no decoration at all when a lady of status would also have a decorated neckline - VivatAnne1536 I love this especially the colours however I do agree with VivatAnne1536. In fact I think there should have been more jewels all over it not just on the neckline. The coronet is beautiful though. - QueenAnneBoleyn This one, I don't care if there are not enough jewels on the front of her gown. She wasn't full royalty yet anyway. Just the purple was enough. I don't really like the decoration on the neckline as much as I used to. I love the color purple. And as always, the jewels just make it 100x better. Absolutely gorgeous! -GoldenAged.ER I think the caption explains why she doesn't have the decorated neckline. Color was not befitting her status at the time, she would have pushed the envelope too far. karenofbethany I dont really like the dress but it definately sends the message: I am the Queen! - A_Tudor_Lady This gown really shows off her unique style. -automaticeyes Is this really purple? Am I just clolor blind? It looks like there is purple in there but its not a purple gown-Anne'sCurls The dress would have been nice if it wasn't for those golden things on the corset top which totally spoils it. Loving the jewels though. mary_bess_edward I don't like the dress that much. But I love her jewels... BoleynGirl I do like this dress, but I don't think it fits with the hair. -Nan_Bullen This dress is gorgeous and would definitely cause a scene like it did over her rank. She looks every inch a Queen here, and purple is her colour for sure!! I love the crown. -Tudor_Queen Now this dress, to me does not even look like purple, more like burgondy with a purple like shimmer, contrary to what it is said to be. This dress looks more like what was worn back then, although the gold design on the bodice isn't exactly true to the times and the neckline would be adorned with pearls and jewels. The undersleevs would also be more poofier too, but I can let that slide. Also, Ann should be wearinga French Hood through the series rather than tiaras. Charlie-Beth-Hayden Isn't this dress supposed to be purple? It looks more... burgandy to me. Not one of my favourite dresses- the gold things on the bodice aren't very flattering. Still, lovely jewlery and it suits Natalie. TheFreeSpirit-X I love this dress although I agree that it does look more burgundy than purple, but I know people who would argue that burgundy is a type of purple, so, oh well. And I think that even though it doesn't have a decorated neckline that her beautiful necklace and brooch more than make up for that. She looks fantastic. And she probably wore tiaras some of the time, since she was the (future) queen. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| Anne at a dance in Episode 1.5 and In promo shoot for season one (I think it's the same dress) | I love the lace, its so light and flowing. The sleeves are amazing. But again i don't think the colour or really the whole look suits Anne. amore_angel This was my favourite dress in season 1 -I don't know why I like it but I just do, i't was a pity we didn't see this dress again in the series because it's just beautiful-Neta07 It would look beautiful on any of the queens, especially Jane. karenofbethany No, they're not the same dress. The one in the promo is a nightgown (maybe it's the same, but they fixed it). Anyway, pretty good dress, the headdress makes a lot. -LadyLorhen I love this dress, and actually made a headband to match the one in the pic! Too lovely! -AnneBoleyn87 I think they had her wear this in season I because it is so virginal looking and she was sending a message to him that she was not available as only a mistress. karenofbethany This dress says to me I am a virgin, youthful and graceful! Love the head-peice! - A_Tudor_Lady This dress is so elegant and really shows Anne/Natalie off well. I love the headress!! - QueenAnneBoleyn Very simple and yet elegant. -automaticeyes I LOVE HER HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!-Anne'sCurls It's beautiful.I agree with Anne's Curls....I love her hairstyle... BoleynGirl This gown, if it can be called that in the Tudor era, looks like a nightgown to me and should have been left for the bedroom. Charlie-Beth-Hayden Okay, not accurate for the time at all. But I can't help but fall in love with this dress. It really suits her + makes her look like an angel. TheFreeSpirit-X |
| | Wish she would have chosen a more ladylike pose rather than pornstar, legs spread open. So cringeworthy. That said i do like the sleeves. amore_angel What? That doesn't count as a dress! -A_Tudor_Lady Agreed! Underwear doesn't count! -Brennalarose This is a pretty accurate shift for the era and is used to sleep in, and also the garment worn under all the other undergarments, including the corset. One of the more accurate articles of clothing in the series. Charlie-Beth-Hayden They actually usually slept naked back then. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| Henry's dream of Anne- episode 1.3 Anne in Season 1 promo shoot | It would have been a nice dress if it wasn't for those spotted things. Whoever said it looks like she has a skin disease is 100% right. And the dress is a bit plain. Perhaps some embroidery to finish it off would have been nice. She looks like a sesame seed bagel. amore_angel I think this gown would look a lot better with a square neckline - but the fabric is absolutely lush! - Shadow_in_the_Sun I love the hairsyle but the gown itself is a little plain for my liking. I agree that the fabric is gorgeous though! And I think there should be more jewellery. - QueenAnneBoleyn I agree with QueenAnne, the gown is not one of my favorites. The hairstyle is beautiful though. I want my hair to grow that long. lol. Yes, it's just not one of her "wow" gowns. Plain, simple.. something you would see on Jane more likely. -GoldenAged.ER The way they filmed this scene was very lovely, dream-like, but I agree that the gown is not my favorite. -KingsRose Isn't this the "seduce me" scene? It is more subliminal, presenting her wearing gold which represents royalty but it is simple - showing her womanhood in a plain and obvious way. karenofbethany Although the dress is plain, Natalie's beauty stands out...she is not in competition with her wardrobe. - offwithherhead I don't like it very much, although the scene is great. However, she makes it beautiful, as always.-LadyLorhen This a beautiful scene and if any of you have seen the picture of most of the Tudor cast at a feast and Anne/ Natlie is wearing this dress, it looks a lot more flattering on her then, then it does in these pictures! However it is true, anne/natalie flatters the gown, not the other way around! I think this dress would have been better if it had more shape and definition! After all Anne/Natalie has got such a great figure and this dress just hangs on her! -A_Tudor_Lady Due to this being a dream, I can forgive a good deal of the shaping. It looks ethereal and unreal, meant to flow rather than hug. I find it to be one of her sexier looks. -Brennalarose The fabric just isn't appealing. -automaticeyes I think this has got to be the worse dress/fabric i have ever seen. It looks like she's got some weird skin disease. Not flattering at all! mary_bess_edward I didn't like this dress...But she's really beautiful in season 1 promo shoot.Love her crown... This seeded pearl silk dress is awesome in its simplicity. Very queenly. Antoinette2. Since this is more of a dream inspired by infatuation, I'll not critique it other than saying that this gown would have never existed in Tudor history. Charlie-Beth-Hayden I suprisingly like this dress. I love the simplicity. TheFreeSpirit-X This dress is so beautiful! I love the pearl-studded silk! Anne looks very ethereal. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | Comments: Is she bare elbowed? If yes, it looks stupid. If not, it looks it and just doesn't go at all. I don't like its off the shoulder, dislike the little puffballs. Not sure if i like the material either. The floral pattern is nice but its too heavy. amore_angel I don't care for the design of this gown (or any of the off-the-shoulder creations in this series, they remind me of Ren Faire Wench Garb! Plus, the semi detached arms just look silly) but the fabric itself is very beautiful. I'd love to know where it's from. - Boudica I loved this dress when I first saw it, although I do agree with Boudica that the semi-detached arms looks a little silly. But I love off-the-shoulder dresses, or any type of clothing, and the fabric is incredible. - carteremily When I first saw this dress I was not to sure of it. But it has grown on me. I especially love the cut and how Natalie/Anne's hair was loose whe she wore it goes perfectly with the dress. - QueenAnneBoleyn Oh, well the off the shoulder idea doesn't really appeal to me. Her hair is gorgeous in that scene. It's almost a dark reddish brown. I even tried to get my hair colored the same exact way. I loved her hair that much. lol. I like the dress well enough. -GoldenAged.ER Don't think AB would have dressed quite so provocatively as befitting her rank. karenofbethany It looks like a curtain that my grandparents would have. Too heavy and i hate the puffs on the sleeve mary_bess_edward Sorry, but I think this costume is a "miss". Don't care for the off-the-shoulder design and the fabric reminds me of curtains. - offwithherhead Wonderful. Simply wonderful. This is my favourite Anne's costume. The design and the pattern, the colours. Simply amazing. -LadyLorhen Im not a huge fan of the pattern but I think the off the shoulder look gives it a modern tinge that makes me like the dress even if it isn't something Anne would have worn! I also love this scene which gives it an extra bonus! -A_Tudor_Lady I love the pattern, but would prefer it if the dress was not off the shoulder and had attached sleeves. But the pattern is so lovely I can over look those minor flaws ;p -AnneBoleyn87 This gown pretty much reminds me of curtains. -automaticeyes I love love love this dress. It's possibly the best dress of season 1. ~Dakkietudor It's very romantic but definetly NOT Tudor. They would have never showed that much chest and arm. Antoinette 2 This Gown would have been more accurate if it was not off the shoulder and if there was a shift worn under it. You would see a shift poking out in the parts of the sleevs where her elbows are showing. Charlie-Beth-Hayden I'm not so keen on this dress. The pattern looks like my nans curtains and the sleeves aren't that nice either. TheFreeSpirit-X I like everything about this dress except for the fabric. That should be different since Anne was supposed to have good taste. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | This is more Anne's style. The rich, seductive red with a pretty lace bodice. amore_angel Natalie looks so pretty in the first photo! I only just read the other boleyn girl and I love how it describes the way Anne moved and glowed and was always the centre of attention. I think this dress (well at least the top of it) is amazing and its just the sort of thing i would imagine anne wearing! I want it! -A_Tudor_Lady I love old-fashioned red dresses(most of them).I really like this... We can't really see much of this gown, how can we really make much of a comment on it? Charlie_Beth-Hayden This dress- or the top of it- is really nice, it's simple yet elegant and the colours really suit Natalie. She looks stunning in the first picture. TheFreeSpirit-X I love this gown and I think it is very suiting for Anne's character and the scenes that we see her wearing it in. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | The colour is stunning, but i think they went overboard on the embroidery. Way too much. I do like the pattern on the bodice but the stripes are too much, especially on the sleeves. On the full picture it looks too red. Would be a good xmas dress amore_angel I love this dress I think it is absolutely beautiful! The jewellery is lush to! I love how the neckline fits Anne/Natalie. I wish I looked like that! - QuuenAnneBoleyn Amazing, so royal! LOVE THE EARINGS! - A_tudor_lady Such a gorgeous color! -automaticeyes The colour is amazing, but i think there is too much of the gold embroidery and it ruins it mary_bess_edward hmm it's good....I love her red earrings... BoleynGirl It's stunning, elegant and royal. The embroidery with the "rubies" speaks of her position. Antoinette2 This Gown looks like it would have been worn by Elizabeth rather than Anne since it belongs in Elizabeth's time rather than Anne's. You just have to look at the sleeves to know. Charlie-Beth-Hayden Wow. That's the only word that sums up this stunning dress. The red really suits Natalie and shows Anne's rise to power. TheFreeSpirit-X This dress is so fantastic. It really shows how much Anne has risen in power. Also, some people did wear sleeves like this they were just way more commen in Elizabeth's time (Joan Bergin talks about it at the very beginning of the costume page). MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | I like the dress from the sides. Don't like the bodice or the split sleeves. amore_angel My only issue here is that the sleeves would probably look better with an under sleeve puffing out of the slashes. It just looks too bare, but the color is lovely. -Brennalarose Lovely dress and colour. Don't think it suits Natalie's tone but its very pretty mary_bess_edward I agree with mary_bess_edward, it's a lovely dress but it doesn't suit with Natalie's skin tone, but I don't like the sleeves. -Nan_Bullen As above, this gown would have most likely been worn by Elizabeth rather than Ann, and there should be a a shift puffed through the slots in the sleeves. Charlie-Beth-Hayden Hmm. I agree with the person above me; it's more suited to Elizabeths time but you have to admit, this is a beautiful dress. TheFreeSpirit-X This dress is so beautiful although it doesn't really suit Anne's character in my opinion. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | The material and mixed colour is really unflattering, especially with the random bits of red in the bodice. amore_angel This dress is awesome! I love all the detail and even though the headress is not of my style its undeniably beautiful! Good job who ever made it! Natalie/ Anne looks so young and beautiful! -A_tudor_Lady The headpiece is amazing but i think its a little OTT. I hate the dress though. I hate the split down the corset and the material for the skirt is not a flattering colour mary_bess_edward I really like this. The jewels, the dress ...I find her amazing....This dress was also used in the BBC series the virgin queen BoleynGirl Like the headpiece. Hate the dress. The split makes it look like a road sign. Antoinette2 I do like this gown, but the sleeves should be belled at the elbows and a poofy undersleeves under the bell part of the sleeves. Also, Anne would be seen wearing a French Hood rather than that Hindi looking Tiara. Charlie-Beth-Hayden Ew. Ugh. Uhm. What's with the headress?! It's utterly hideous... The dress isn't one of my favourites, but I think the colours work for Natalie. TheFreeSpirit-X This dress is so unflattering on Natalie and probably would be on anyone. I think the headpiece was worn by Katherine earlier in the season and if that is the case, maybe the producers and designers were trying to symbolize Anne's rise and Katherine's fall by having her wear it. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| Anne at a dance- 1.8 | Comments: The colour is lovely. I'm not too keen on the split in the skirt. I'm not loving the bodice either, its a bit too plain with such a plain, neutral colour. I also dislike the werid shaped hat and way too much feathers. amore_angel I love, love, love this gown! I want, want, want! - Boudica I so totally agree, it's exquisite. Jewels 68 Beautiful, although I would prefer it with "trumpet" sleeves - VivatAnne1536 Lovely but not one of my favourites. I think the colours should be more bright and more jewellery is needed to complete the look. - QueenAnneBoleyn It might look better if her hair was up. How many times does she wear this gown anyway? Yes, very dull and plain, but I still like it. -GoldenAged.ER Where is the head dress. It says somewhere on this costume wiki that everyone always wore one. Look at her fabulous posture! -karenofbethany Absolutely stunning gown!! Here again, Natalie looks her most beautiful when her hair is down and the jewellery is minimal. - offwithherhead I love this dress so much! Its fabulous! I think the pattern is plain which is good because otherwise it would be too much but instead its perfect! defin in my top 5! And I love it when Anne/ Natlie wears her hair out! - A_Tudor_Lady So elegant! -automaticeyes For some reason it looks better in the top pictures rather than the bottom. Maybe because the lighting is a bit darker and doesn't show all the flaws. I also hate the hat. It doesnt suit Natalie at all. mary_bess_edward Love this fabric. Natalie looks fantastic. Antoinette2 One of the swans got caught in her head. karenofbethany It's fantastic... BoleynGirl I loved Natalie with this dress at dance, that was actually the first time I saw her =) and it looks awesome with the hat. -Nan_Bullen I like this gown better with the hat. I've stated what the sleeves should be like before, Should I repeat it? Charlie-Beth-Hayden I like this dress. The simplicity of it is nice, and Natalie looks great in it. TheFreeSpirit-X This dress is so pretty and I actually like the big floral print that they used, which is a rare occurance! Natalie looks very elegant in it. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| episode 1.6 and 1.7 Anne in promotional shoot for season 1 | Comments: The blue part of the dres is stunning. I love the flowers on the bodice. I don't like the golden skirt though it just looks like its been pinned on last minute. amore_angel (second edition since first was deleted) This dress is stunning. It would of worked better without the gold on the skirt- it just looks like an afterthought, And the headdress is horrid. TheFreeSpirit-X What I love watching The Tudors in high def, so you can see all the exquisite detail of the costumes, and this is no exception. The unusual fabric color. embroidery, and the rich full skirt makes this such a beautiful piece. The sleeves are my only point of dissent, they just look like they should have been designed a different way (of course they're not historically accurate either) either trumpet or bell shaped would be nicer. I also think I prefer the smaller headpiece in episode 1.7 (bottom right) although I can see why the huge headdress would be appropriate for the scene in which Wolsey first realizes Anne Boleyn's a raising star. -Boudica Yes Boudica, I thought the headdress was "over the top" but now you bring that up, it looks like their reasoning was to show her as a 'rising star'. - MsSquirrly I love this! I don't agree that the head dress was to much I actually think it looked exquisite and went perfectly with the scenes it was in. Gorgeous colours as well. - QueenAnneBoleyn The head dress looks foriegn. Not Tudor like. Maybe if they took off the top part of it and left the bottom piece it wouldn't be so weird looking. I think it was appropriate though, just not to my liking. I liked the second head piece. As for the dress, it's beautiful. I love it. -GoldenAged.ER Love the dress and the colors, but I have to agree about the "to big" head-dress....it is too much. In the pictures to the left, Natalie is wearing the same dress but with two different head pieces...in the first your eye is drawn to the head piece and the second, your eye is drawn to her smile. Sometimes less IS more. - offwithherhead I like the blue part of the dress but the yellow bit ruins it for me. They should have kept it simple. mary_bess_edward Don't like too much the headdress: it seems the one Nicole Kidman weared in Moulin Rouge. India Style. The costume too, isn't one of my favourite. The thing that I like most about this outfit is the headress. It says hey look at me but in a good way. Love the color but not the design. I want that headress. - Lil_angel0999 Boudica said it all for me! Love the dress, needs more sleeve, prefer the smaller head dress but understand the big one! Great! I love the Blue and gold together on Natalie/Anne -A_Tudor_Lady Gorgeous color and headpiece for sure. -automaticeyes I didnt get the random yellow outskirt with this gown. That is my only complaing, I love the headdress, again Im into Star Wars and over the top works for me sometimes-Anne'sCurls She's very very beautiful in these photos BoleynGirl I'm not too much of a fan of this gown, I don't like the blend of the two colors together like that. The Hindi-like tiaras always seem out of place. And again with the tight sleeves! Charlie-Beth-Hayden I LOVE THIS DRESS!!! She looks so pretty in it and totally like a queen although the pearl tiara is so much better than the other one. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| Episode 1.7 Episode 1.9 | This is quite a pretty dress. The colour looks magnificent on her, she does dark clothing better. I also like the little waistcoat effect on the dress, it gives it style and a better fitting. amore_angel (second edition since first was deleted) I quite like this dress- though I think Natalie should stick to colour. TheFreeSpirit-X I really like this dress, my only complaint is that to me it looks somewhat lke a riding habit. Maybe it's just me, but it has this masculine vibe going on haha. -TheLadyNatalie I just noticed that. To me now it looks like a uniform for an officer during the Revolutionary war with England and the Colonies of America. lol. -GoldenAged.ER Not one of my favorites...I'm not sure why...just something about it. I do, however, love the necklace. - offwithherhead There is something about this one that I like. I love the black and white together. I want it. - Lil_Angel0999 I really like this dress as a-lady-in-waitings dress and no one looks prettier, yonger and more innocent when they cry then natalie dormer (middle picture on the right!)! -A_Tudor_Lady Very shapely gown. -automaticeyes This dress is gorgeous! It's simple yet elegant. ~Dakkietudor Love the fitting and the colours. She would look so pretty if she didn't screw up her face and start crying. mary_bess_edward There's something about this dress that makes me love it! it's my favourite dress. -Nan_Bullen I agree with theladynatalie, this looks more like a riding habit than a regular gown. However, it could also be a traveling frock. Traveling frocks have that look as well. Charlie-Beth-Hayden This dress manages to make her look regal even though it is one of her more simple gowns. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | This is just so mismatched. The sleeves and skirt should at least match even though the fabric of both is hideous. And the bodice is so chunky it makes her look fat. They should have used a smaller feather in the hat as well, it takes away from her face. This outfit makes her look middle aged. amore_angel Its a wierd dress and Im not really sure what to make of it, but the hats cool. I dont like the sleeves at all but Its an ok dress! - A_tudor_lady I did not like this dress. It looked like it was 2 or 3 outfits combined into one and it didn't work. Nothing seems to fit with the other fabrics.-Anne'sCurls The corset is vile. The sleeves and skirts don't match at all. The feather in the hat just makes it worse. Big no no! mary_bess_edward Again this looks like a gown that Elizabeth would wear rather than Anne. The sleeves are more of an Elizabethan period. Charlie-Beth-Hayden This dress is just tacky and it doesn't even fit her that well. I highly doubt Anne would wear this, especially if she was trying to make an impression on someone. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | She doesn't wear this well. Its such an elegant dress i think she should have sat side-saddle here to show that elegance. Would be a nice outfit if the sleeves weren't so puffed. amore_angel Next time I go riding Im wearing a dress like this! Natalie looks so elegent, sitting tall in the saddle in such a lovely dress!- once again, love the hat! Defin in my top 10 - A_tudor_Lady Sleeves are a bit dodgy but apart from that everything else is gorgeous. Love the elegant veil! mary_bess_edward Again this is what Elizabeth would wear, not Anne, look at the sleeves! Charlie-Beth-Hayden |
| Anne in promotional shoot for season 1 Episode 1.2 | I don't like the panels around the waist but other wise its a very beautiful dress. The colour is amazing. The detail on the bodice is stunning and i love the short, laced sleeves. And the plum cloak goes well with it. amore_angel I love to see the difference in gowns from the time when Katherine was queen (The big frumpy look) to when Anne as queen (The smaller sleeker look) This is deffinately one of those bigger dresses. I like it much more with the cape then i do in the two pictures to the left. -TheLadyNatalie yddib I quite like this. Very girly and fun. Shows Anne's sense of fun and charm. I like that this better reflects her life before Henry, and the "B" necklace is fabulous. - offwithherhead Another Fabulous red dress. Goes grest with her complexion and hair. I want it. - Lil_Angel0999 I love this dress when Anne is wearing that gorgeous purple coat over the top and with that headress! I so want a "B" necklace! Natalie/Anne looks so beautiful! -A_Tudor_Lady One of her trademarks. -automaticeyes Love this dress. The colour is so beautiful and rich. The only problem i have with it is the flaps around the waist. Love the frills on the sleeves. mary_bess_edward this is my favorite dress from season 1....She's gorgeous.. BoleynGirl Beatiful dress on a beautiful woman. Very renaissance looking. Nice, smal headpiece. Antoinette2 I just love it, specially with the purple coat. Gorgeous dress. -Nan_Bullen The only complaint that I have about this gown is the sleeves, these sleeves, I think first appeared in the time of Marie Antoinette. Other than that, I love the dress, and can see Anne wearing it, only with the more traditional Tudor Bell sleeves. I also love the cloak. Charlie-Beth-Hayden This dress is so pretty. It really shows of Anne's spunky, fun personality. I also think the cloak is very pretty. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | I'm not loving this dress. Giant pink spots aren't that appealing, especially all over the dress. They should have kept it to either the bodice or the skirt and definetely not use it on the sleeves. amore_angel Pretty, but not my favorite...something with the fabric material...needs a solid color somewhere to offset the pattern. - offwithherhead This is one of my favorite dresses she wears in season one. I love the colors and especially the pink. The sleeves fit her arms nicely although I am not a fan of the puffs at her shoulder. I also like how there are two skirts and one of them flows outwards. I know she had the blue dress that had this design in yellow but it is much nicer when it is of the same design as the rest of the dress.-Anne'sCurls This dress s so fun! and so different to a lot of Natalie/Annes dresses! - A_Tudor_Lady I love the material they used for this dress! -AnneBoleyn87 Its a nice dress fit but giant pink polka dots? Ewww! mary_bess_edward Again it looks like something Elizabeth would wear during Mary's reign. Charlie-Beth-Hayden I think this dress is very pretty and looks very nice on Natalie. | Anne in her Lady-in-waiting dress-1.3,1.4 &1.5 | I think this is actually my favourite Anne season one dress. She looks sophisticated in it, it definetely has Katherine's elegance in it. The colour looks good on her and the sleeves are to die for with the stripes. And the bodice is stunning with the embroidery and broaches. amore_angel Agh! Yet again, another one of the "Katherine of Aragon" dresses, as i like to call them. The designs are lovely, but I personally like Anne's Ladies' dresses more. -TheLadyNatalie I like the details of this dress.Imagine the yellow color of anne's lady-in-waintg with the details of Katherine lady's dress.-Jes89 I love this dress. Everything about it! It definetly has the "Katherine" vibe. Is it just me or does Katherine's gowns just get darker and darker as her mood and health demise? The detail on this gown is amazing. I would totally wear this. -GoldenAged.ER Definitely a dress better suited to Katherine. Natalie does better with color. - offwithherhead Everyone bashes the gowns of katharine's ladies in waiting and I have to come to their defense. Anne's gown is is so beautiful much than the one's her own ladies wear. I wonder why she was allowed to have her own specific gown.I love everything about it. The shiny silver, the skirt, the bodice, the sleeves, and especially the designs on the front. I would buy this and wear it to the mall!-Anne'sCurls I'm with you Anne's Curls! Antoinette2 Love the color and overall design of the dress. I would want it. - Lil_Angel0999 I love this dress sooooo much! Natalie/ anne looks so youthful and charming. No wonder Henry was mad for her! The headress is sweet and The detial on the boddess is wonderful! DEFIN IN MY TOP 5! -A_tudor_lady A very Katherine dress. Pretty nonetheless -Automaticeyes The style definately has teh Spanish influence from Katharine but it is still beautiful. The detail to the front is simply lovely. ~Dakkietudor Once again, it is a Elizabeth gown rather than an Anne gown. Charlie-Beth-Hayden I love this gown. Everything about it is so beautiful and I would wear it. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| First time we see Anne 1.1 | The chemise is sweet but the dress over it is a big, hideous lump. amore_angel This dress reminds me of the movie "Ever After"! - Boudica Pretty. Anne/Natalie looks soooooo young here!! - QueenAnneBoleyn This does look like a dress from "Ever After" Boudica. It is very young and girlie. Well done. - offwithherhead so young and pretty! natalie/ anne looks so innocent. she has no idea here that she will be queen! - A_tudor_lady Aw! She looks so darn sweet! -Brennalarose It shows the great development in her character from when we first see her here to even when we see her next with her father. The childishness and such from her personality is gone. ~Dakkietudor This looks more closely like a country peasant gown. Charlie-Beth-Hayden I like the sleeves on this dress, but the material is tacky. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | The most hideous dress ever. Big, lumpy and heavy. The colour reminds me of what i vomit up. Its a total clash and quite disappointing for a promotional picture. I also hate how her hair is in the first picture, it's too scraped back and she has a giant forehead. In the second picture her head is distorted from her body because of the dress. Not flattering. amore_angel I am sorry, but this looks like the material was taken off my grandmothers couch. The prominent bile green color does nothing for Natalie.- offwithherhead The colors are definitely not flattering her. -Brennalarose Urgh. The material is horendous! So heavy and unflattering. And the sleeves :S It makes her head look tiny compared to the rest of her body mary_bess_edward The sleeves are what Elizabeth wore during her reign, the whole gown is Elizabethan, but the necklace more represents Anne, too bad we didn't see more of it. Is that supposed to be a French Hood? I can't really tell. If it is, it is a poor imitation. Charlie-Beth-Hayden Uh... MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | From what we see the dress is beautiful. The pattern on top of the bodice makes it decorative but no too much. amore_angel It's a shame they didn't use this dress and jewelry more in seasons 1 and 2 as I think it makes anne look very important and regal :) - AnneBoleynFan74 I think this dressis the one she wears at the end of the first episode of the 2nd season. -Neta07 I love this gown, and the jewelry, and the headpiece!! Ahhh, so lovely! Its one of the first times in the first season she truelly looks like a queen or at least a princess! - A Tudor Lady Yeah she looks like a queen.....I like the headpiece.. BoleynGirl The headpiece looks more Elizabethan, but ah well. Maybe it's supposed to be an omen of Elizabeth's reign. Can't really see much of the gown to even comment. Charlie-Beth-Hayden |
| | I could be wrong, but isn't this the same dress as the one she wears in s01 ep10 - where she said about wishing all spaniards were at the bottom of the ocean - just with the added pattern on the front of the dress? I like it :) - AnneBoleynFan74 You know what? I think you're right! It is the same dress,I noticed that the front part of the dress is exactly the same. On a not though,I loved this dress. - QueenEmy191989 This gown looks more like it! Only there needs to be pearls and jewels sewn onto the neckline for her to look more like Ann. I guess the Headpiece is okay, though it could look more like the French Hood. Charlie-Beth-Hayden |
| | The material is horendous, its a mixture of different colours but all mixed together like a smoothie. I hate the crisscross pattern on the sleeves and the blue and bronze diamonds make it look even more of a mess. amore_angel I like the dress well enough, its very pretty actually. But I like a lot of the other gowns better. -A Tudor Lady I abhor the gown, the pattern is ugly even if it does have nice colors. It does not look like anything Anne would wear at all. Charlie-Beth-Hayden This gown is hideous. MademoiselleBoleyn How do you know what she would or wouldn't wear, Charlie-Beth-Hayden? Where you There? |
| | It looks a bit bobbly and i don't like the massive shoulders. It's a nice colour and fit though and i like the trim. amore_angel I'm not sure what to say about this riding habit other than it has Elizabethan sleeves. Other than that, I'm just not sure what to say. Charlie-Beth-Hayden I like this riding habit and I wish I had something that pretty to ride horses in...although I'm very glad I have my jeans! MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | The colour is uninspiring. The short sleeves make me hate the entire outfit even though i can't see the full bodice or skirt. It really just ruins it. amore_angel Now that is a French Hood! Though the gown, even if we don't see much of it, what we do see is not only ugly but short sleeves??? they did not exist until centuries later. Charlie-Beth-Hayden |
| | The colour is beautiful on her. Red is Anne like black and gold is Katherine of Aragon. Its a beautiful dress despite its plainess. amore_angel The neckline should be more squared and adorned with pearls and jewels. The sleeves should be Tudor Bell sleeves, make those alteration and you would have a very nice gown that can look like it belongs in the Tudor court. Charlie-Beth-Hayden I love this gown, I just wish that we saw more of it. MademoiselleBoleyn |
| | I love this outfit but it looks so much better on Jane than Anne. The embroidery on the collar is amazing. amore_angel Is it just me or does Anne look like a possesed zombie in the first picture? I love the dressing gown thing though. It flatters her and the colour is very pretty. I love the detail at the top! A Tudor Lady Lovely color and detail. Very romantic and flowing. All the fabric just hangs so perfectly. Antoinette2 This does fit the time period accordingly. I love the detail on the dressing coat. Charlie-Beth-Hayden |

Does this bother you, that in the Tudors Anne Boleyn had NO french hoods? That was her trademark, this and her "B" necklace. In every portrait she has a french hood, occasionaly a gable hood.
