| Melissa | English-Rose | Katherine Howard is my favourite wife of Henry VIII! :) She wasn't pious like Katherine of Aragon, humble like Jane Seymour, solemn like Anne of Cleves or sensible and well-educated like Katherine Parr. She was more like her cousin, Anne Boleyn, who was quite flirtateous and lively. But what draws me to Katherine the most is how young she was when she got the King's attention. She was only in her teens, and as I am in my teenage years I feel like I can relate to her the most. I am also fascinated by her upbringing, in Lambeth, with all those other girls under the care of the Dowager Duchess of Norfolk. I love the way they secretly invited young men in without the Duchess knowing, and what they got up to just makes me giggle! XD I have so much respect and admiration for Katherine, as she faced her horrific end with the dignity and courage of a proper Queen. Her death at such a young age was completely cruel and unnecessary. The King got to have mistresses while he was married, so why couldn't the Queen have a few men? This is totally unfair, and makes me really annoyed with the way things were back then. Go Queen Kitty, the rose without a thorn! And long may you reign in heaven! :) |
