"watching the last scene of the tudors season three finale, the scene where kitty's naked on a swing, i had a moment of "omgosh, LOLITA!" referring, of course, to the book by vladimir nabokov. i am a HUGE fan of lolita, its my favourite, and in that moment, kitty reminded so vividly of lo! especially in adrian lyne's film (put out by showtime, doesn't that figure?) anyways, what do the rest of you think about this?"

I hate to see KH trivialized in that way. She was an untutored unlettered (she could barely write), unattended, and I think you could say, unloved young girl in a home where rules were neglected, and there was no one watching out for her. In that atmosphere, nature took its course. She probably more than any other of the wives was a docile tool of her (Howard) clan, dazzled by the possibility of being Queen, thinking like most young people that she could overcome anything, unconsidering of consequences of past behaviour. She was foolish, and in some ways, very naive. She was kind and did try to use her influence to help several prisoners in the Tower. Hearing of Lady Salisbury's lack of warm clothes, KH from her own pocket, paid for warm clothing befitting Margaret Pole's station and had them sent to her. For someone so young, she made a brave end.
She was a young woman married to a sick, petulant old man. Yes, she was wrong to behave as she did, but much of it is understandable.
