Thomas Culpepper as played by Torrance Coombs

Born c.1514 - Executed December 10th, 1541 by order of King Henry VIII
Character's backstory: A young courtier who entered royal service during Anne Boleyn's time but only came to prominence after 1537. He was distantly related to the Howard family. He became a great favourite of King Henry VIII and one of his most trusted attendants. He was part of the group of privileged dignitaries who greeted Henry's German bride Anne of Cleves.
In 1540, Culpepper caught the attention of Henry's new teenage bride,Katherine Howard.Culpepper was among the men charged with committing adultery with the queen. It is probable that there was some kind of affair between them in 1541 although the extent of it is still debated by historians. In any case, it was discovered by the Council when they interrogated one of Katherine's maids, who had suspected the couple since a royal journey to Princess Elizabeth's childhood home at Hatfield house.

Culpepper tried to save himself by arguing that he had met with Katherine only because the young queen was 'dying of love for him', and would not let him end the relationship. She argued otherwise and told her interrogators that Culpepper ceaselessly begged for a meeting and she was too fearful to refuse.

Do You Think That Thomas Culpepper will be portrayed in the Tudors? I hope that he does and obviously he will but when. In the promo 'Henry and His Wives' it has Katherine with a mysterious male. Do you think that it is Francis Dereham or Thomas Culpepper? I think that if they do it historically accuarately it should be Dereham but this is the Tudors so it could be Culpepper? What are you're thoughts?

*Sorry for rambling on*
