I am a direct descendant of Sir Thomas More,a fact confirmed by ancestry.com. My last name is of English origin and so are all my relatives on my dad's side of the family. It's through my great grandparents, Lee and Eva Morse Peters, that I am related to Sir Thomas. I trace
my lineage to More's son, John. As a Roman Catholic, it's an honor to be related to this great man and saint. |

I've often wondered of the relationship between these men. They are often portrayed as protagonists, and to some degree they were. In some cases, as in Bolt's play and Zimmerman's film of A Man for All Seasons, Cromwell is very much the villain to More's saint. But the truth is more complex, and we see a sense of that in The Tudors, where it is not Cromwell who is "out to get" More, but rather an indifferent observer who disagrees with his views on the church.
Were they in fact simply thrown together in time by fate to oppose each other, or was there a visceral dislike? Thoughts?

As a former journalist, I'm a fanatic about accuracy, so please, please PLEASE correct the info on Sir Thomas More. You say he refused to sign the petition asking the Pope to annul "thomas More's" marriage to Anne Boleyn. That should read HENRY'S marriage to Anne Boleyn!

I do this more then to you then to mine, a lot of people here on the internet although literate and good knowledge are dumb because they are bias.
Now I am not saying we are all bias, just the people on the internet, most opinions praised or accepted are the bias ones to our heroes, I have never had heroes, oh witch how could you? you will say but no heroes I see them as non existent, we put people as larger than life, it is bad when you do that because you are putting him in saint in all but name, when you villify you creat the same effect that later groups will use to defend their cause blindly. Such is the case with the tudors. as a friend once told me who if you insult I will curse you to sir or whatever you are "We will always have Catherines of aragon to pitty and villiefy for, anne boleyns to condemn and praise for lager than life, jane seymour to blindly villify and be our favorite bitch, anne of cleves to be put as uglies, kat howards to be put as a wanton girl and catherine parrs to condemn and praise as martir." She said this to me when we were watching this sire, now at first I said "Hey that is a little far fetched" but then she was right, we see with eyes of men and women, and those eyes are bias.
