Comments:

More and Fisher

Episode: 10
Character (s): Sir Thomas More to Bishop John Fisher
Actor (s): Jeremy Northam, Bosco Hogan
Scene: Sir Thomas More speaks with Bishop John Fisher about the 1500 clergy arrested for recognizing Wolsey's authority following Wolsey's death. More tells Fisher something that Wolsey once told him:

"I should only ever tell the king what he ought to do, not what he could do. For if the lion knows his own strength, no man could control him."

Comments: This moment is so ominous. It makes both More and Fisher realize that no one has immunity in Henry's kingdom. ~~ hrm_elizabeth

Pope Paul

Season: 2
Episode: 5
Character (s): Pope Paul III & Cardinal Lorenzo Campeggio
Actor (s): Peter O'Toole & John Kavanagh
Scene: Pope Paul, speaking to Cardinal Campeggio about Henry VIII's great matter of discarding one wife for another.

"You and I, Campeggio, have done well to avoid the craft of women.
Celibacy is an immense relief."

Comments: I just loved the deliciously sardonic way that Peter O'Toole delivered this line - MsSquirrly

I love this because in the series you see both Pope's grandson, and Campeggio's son. The irony is very amusing :) Peter O'Toole rocks my socks :)

Henry VIII

Season: 1

Comments:
The spoiled brat!! He can do anything he wants because of it and gets away with murder...wonder where he went after he died? by FMFJRMGRL

Margaret and Charles

Actor (s): Gabrielle Anwar and Henry Cavill
Scene: Princess Margaret dances with Charles Brandon following her wedding to the King of Portugal. Margaret asks if Charles teases her because it amuses him. When Charles responds, "Why else?" Margaret states:

Character (s): Queen Katherine and Sir Thomas More
Actor (s): Maria Doyle Kennedy and Jeremy Northam
Scene: As Queen Katherine leaves court, an optimistic Sir Thomas More tries to comfort the beloved Queen.

Cranmer and Anne

Season: 2
Episode: 9
Character (s): Anne Boleyn
Actor (s): Natalie Dormer

Scene: Anne's confession to Thomas Cranmer

"As for my brother, and those others who are unjustly condemned, I would willingly have suffered many deaths to deliver
them. But, since I see it pleases the king, I will willingly accompany them in death, with this assurance: that I shall lead an endless life with them in peace."

Comments: These were words that she actually spoke when she was found guilty at her trial.

Katherine of Aragon

Season: 1
Episode: 10
Character (s): Queen Katherine of Aragon
Actor (s): Maria Doyle Kennedy
Scene: Henry visits Katherine and tells her to bend to his wish of a divorce because he will surely receive it anyway. Katherine defiantly tells him he won't.

"For every scholar that votes for you...I could find a thousand who would vote for me."

Comments:
This scene speaks volumes in the truth of Henry's "Great Matter". There's a reason it took seven years for Henry to get his divorce. -LNor19

Agreed, Catherine is awesome. Henry was an idiot for putting her aside._hohumpigsbum

Thomas & Anne Boleyn
Season: 1
Episode: 2
Character (s): Sir Thomas Boleyn, Earl of Wiltshire & Anne Boleyn
Actor (s): Nick Dunning & Natalie Dormer
Scene: Anne & her father

"There's something deep and dangerous in you, Anne. Those eyes of yours are like dark hooks for the soul."

Comments:I thank so too,but shes always misjudged by the court for her family's mistakes,i mean her FATHER put her up to this, she should have been freed and he should have be beheaded.

Katherine of Aragon

Season: 2
Episode: 1
Character (s): Queen Katherine of Aragon & Sir Thomas Cromwell, Earl of Essex
Actor (s): Maria Doyle Kennedy & James Frain
Scene: Cromwell tells Queen Katherine that Henry has ordered her to return the "Queen's Crown Jewels". Katherine responds defiantly.

"No! I will not hand over what is rightfully mine to adorn the woman who is the scandal of Christendom!"

Comments: And why should she? This was a widow with extremely little money to manage a whole household and her father and father-in-law didn't care about what became of her but who got to keep the dowry, all this at SIXTEEN, and she had to suffer through this for seven years! She had to stand by while Henry had mistresses, because if she yelled at him he wasn't going to stop, and he even yelled at her because he blamed her for his mistress being sent to a convent! She even attended the christening of his bastard son! Pregnant 6 times, then being given up for her husband's mistress, is not allowed to see her daughter, Anne had already taken so much from her and now she wanted her jewels! If ANYONE deserved these jewels(and a much happier life) it's Catherine!

These words were actually spoken by Katherine. They were the crown jewels which belonged to the King's wife and she didn't recognize Anne as such.

Character (s):Anne Boleyn & King Henry VIII
Actor (s):Natalie Dormer & Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Comments:I think it was his fault too not just hers
Henry was to blame for her miscarraige. he just couldn't wait until the baby was born he had to start going after another woman.

The Tudors Memorable Quotes - The Tudors Wiki

Season:2
Episode:9
Character (s): Anne Boleyn, King Henry VIII, Princess Elizabeth Tudor
Actor (s): Jonathan Rhys Meyers & Natalie Dormer

Scene: After her brother's arrest Anne begs Henry...

Anne: "Henry please.Henry please. For the love you bear our child for the love of Elizabeth have mercy"

Henry:"You lied me, you've always lied me"

Anne:"NO"

Anne: "No,I loved you, I loved you and I love you still. Please after all we have been to each other, after everything we were, please. One more chance, one more. Henry!! YOUR MAJESTY!! YOUR MAJESTY I BESEECH YOU!!!

Comments:These scene is really sad,i wonder what would had happen if Henry gave Anne one more chance.
Yes her father and uncle arranged everything but Henry made it too easy for them. The Seymours did the same thing! He gives his affection so easily to the families of the woman he beds and marries that it is far too hard to resist taking advantage of that. He has no one to blame but himself.

Pope Paul II as portrayed by Peter O'Toole

Season: 2
Episode: 3
Character (s): Pope Paul III, Cardinal Lorenzo Campeggio
Actor (s): Peter O'Toole, John Kavanagh
Scene: Cardinal Campeggio discusses a document with Pope Paul III that prevents enslavement of native people in the "new world" by European kings.

"The fact is, Campeggio, that the kings of Europe have power, but no morality. I must act as their conscience. They are my willful children, and I their father leading along the paths of righteousness...so help me God."

Later in this same scene (just a few seconds afterwards), when Campeggio discusses the appointment of Cranmer, Pope Paul III makes the following comment:

"What harm can a nobody inflict upon our holy church?"

Comments:

Katherine at the Legatine Court
Season: 1
Episode: 8
Character (s): Queen Katherine of Aragon
Actor (s): Maria Doyle Kennedy
Scene: Katherine to Henry at the Legatine Court in Blackfriars

"Sir I beseech you. For all the love that has been between us. Let me have justice & right. Give me some pity & compassion for I am a poor woman & a stranger born out of your dominion. I have no friend here & little counsel. I plea to you as head of justice in this realm. I call God and all the world to witness that I have been to you a true humble and obedient wife ever compliant to your will & pleasure. I have loved all those whom you have loved for your sake whether or not I had cause. Whether they be friends or enemies. By me you have had many children. Although it has pleased God to call them from this world. But when you had me at first , I take God as my judge, I was a true maid without touch of men. And whether or not it be true, I put it to your conscience."

Comments: These are the actual words that Katherine used at the court.

Shame they cut down Katherine's speech quite a bit, but well, Maria delivers it wonderfully, I think I've only seen one actress deliver it better - Frances Cuka (and she has the correct colouring for Katherine too)

Seduce me

Season: 1
Episode:
Character (s): Anne Boleyn & King Henry VIII
Actor (s): Natalie Dormer & Jonathan Rhys Meyers
Scene: Henry is dreaming about Anne.

"Seduce me. Write letters to me. And poems, I love poems. Ravish me with your words. Seduce me."

Comments: I really like the way they filmed this scene it was really nice. Plus Anne was looking hot here.

Katherine of Aragon

Season: 1
Episode: 3
Character (s): Queen Katherine of Aragon & King Henry VIII
Actor (s): Maria Doyle Kennedy & Jonathan Rhys Meyers
Scene: Henry has dinner with Katherine in the Queen's chambers. Katherine expresses her love to her husband after the meal.

"I have never known another man....and nor would I ever want to."

Comments: This simple quote shows Katherine's utter devotion to her husband, even as far as to dismiss all others for him. -LNor19
