Does anyone know if there are going to be new forth coming Tudor/ Elizabethan films or tv series coming out soon?
I have been searching the web trying to find articles on The Constant Princess, The Boleyn Inheritance and Innocent Traitor, which were all reputed to be getting made into films or a tv series, does anyone know any thing about this? I love this period of history, and love to watch films and series about this period, but there is not that many around. I dont like films that were made years and years ago, the farthest back I can go is probably late 80's, I hate things made in the 70's and before that, so does anyone know of any films/series, set in this period made after the 80's? I've seen Lady Jane, Elizabeth, Shakespeare In Love, The Other Boleyn Girl, any other suggestions?

Why is this film not on this website, or did I miss it perhaps? However, what do you think of this film? It's about Mary.

Has anyone seen Henry VIII with Helena Botham Carter? What did you think? Ive heard alot of people criticize the accent that Henry(Ray Winestone) has. I think they called it cockney or something.

there have been a lot of Elizabeth movies which a lot have been terrible. I HATED the ones with Cate blanchett. It's not because of the acting. The only recent one I liked is HBO's starring Helen Mirren. We could use a movie about Mary or Henry VIII if it is done fairly and accurately. That's why I like the tudors. It's not 100% accurate but it's not anywhere as bad as The other boleyn girl or other movies I mentioned. I would love to see a KOA movie but a lot of times if it's british produced they always make the spanish look evil and Katherine ugly and like 30yrs older than henry. They make Mary look worse than hitler and Stalin combined. Just look at Elizabeth and the sequel completely unfair view of france and spain. I just want a change I have seen enough Elizabeth features. How about a Richard the 3rd or the War of the Roses. Anything that is fair and accurate.

I pose this question for all of us. But especially for the historians. Do you think that a version of the Tudors can be made film/dramatically to match history as close as possible ?
Since we know many films are made about this time, but are botched up for the Dramatic Flair, I wonder dont they realize that this time era can be made more historically correct and still have that appeal ? And lastly of all films made, which would you say comes the closet to reality ?

If you haven't seen this you should. It is an awesome movie with Helena Bonahm Carter and Patrick Stuart. It is about Lady Jane Grey (her Grandmother was H8's sister). With Edward dying her family has major political pull with the king and has him change the act of succession to exclude Mary & Elizabeth. Lady Jane is sent to the throne with her husband Guilford Dudley. The hopeful plan with her family was to have her mary Edward and they would rule England. When they find out he is dying their plans all change and they concoct a plan to get her on the throne anyway. It is a neat movie and you see a different side of Mary than normal. She is powerful but duty driven and in love with the king of Spain. Lady Jane was the first real Queen of England even though her getting there was underhanded and shortlived still gives you an idea of how women were a pawn to the court at the time.

While I think ND did a fantastic job on the tudors, I wish now after seeing AOATD that the last episode of the tudors would have shown the trial...
Your thoughts on the differences on areas of both ?
