Did you know that both sons Charles had with Catherine died of the sweating sickness within ONE hour of each other,
HOW DO YOU think Charles would have felt about Lady Jane Gray's claim to the throne???

" And if you throw in the divine right of kings, which possibly Charles believed also, then Jane would have committed a great sin against God for being part of a coup that displaced the legitimate hier of a divinely appointed soverign.
" Thanks Boudica! I had not thought about the "divinity" factor and that is an excellent point. After all, that had to one of the main reasons that a country would be so supportive of a "child" (Edward VI) soverign to rule over them. Can you imagine a child as President or Prime Minister?....on second thought, that might not be any worse! LOL. Anyway, that was a very good point to bring up! :) Pookiesmama sure posted a thought provoking question.
