c.1484 Born ( His mother dies in childbirth)
1485 HIs father William, Henry VII's standard bearer is killed by Richard III at Bosworth field
1491 future King Henry VIII is born
1491 Charle's Grandfather dies and the 7 year old is sent to Court
1497 HIs older brother William dies
1502 Katherine of Aragon marries Prince Arthur & court moves to Ludlow but Charles stays in London to keep 11 yr old Henry company.
1505 Betrothed to Anne Browne, daughter of Anthony Browne, The relationship is consummated and she becomes pregnant & delivers a daughter.
1506 Marries Anne Browne's aunt, a wealthy widow, Margaret Neville Mortimer instead.
1507 Anne's family take legal action and the marriage is annulled.
1508 Charles marries Anne ( aged 24)
1509 Henry VIII marries Katherine of Aragon & both are crowned.
1510 Charle's wife Anne delivers another daughter, Mary
1512 His wife Anne dies.
1512 Later this year, Charles becomes guardian to 8 year old Elizabeth Grey, heiress to Lord Lisle.
1513 - May 15 Charles announces his engagement to his ward & the king creates him Viscount Lisle. (Later Elizabeth would refuse to marry him and he would have to give up the title.)
1513 This same year King Henry would have to make a public apology to Margaret, Regent of the Netherlands for his friend Brandon's conduct in not only flirting with her but encouraging gossip about their meeting.
1513 Created Master of the Horse by the king
1514 - February 1 Charles is created 1st Duke of Suffolk (one of only 3 dukes in the Kingdom - the other two Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk & Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham)
1514 - August 13 Princess Mary, the King's sister marries Louis XII of France by proxy at Greenwich.
1514 - October 2 Mary, the new queen of France travels from Dover to Boulogne
1514 - October 9 King Louis XII marries Mary again outside Abbeville
1514 - December 31 King Louis of France dies suddenly & Mary is put into seclusion for 40 days in case she is pregnant. Brandon is in France on a diplomatic visit at the time.
1515 - January 27 Brandon arrives in France. 7 days later he is met by Francis I tells him that Mary has confessed her love for him and intends to marry him
1515 - February 31 year old Brandon marries 20 year old Mary, dowager queen of France secretly at Cluny Chapel Told Wosley of the marrage on March 5, 1515
1515 - May 13 Mary & Brandon are wed again at Greenwich Palace with King Henry & Katherine of Aragon in attendance.
1516 - March 11 Brandon's new wife gives birth to a boy who is named Henry. Her friend Queen Katherine of Aragon gave birth to a daughter, Princess Mary Tudor, the month before.
1517 - July 16 Daughter Frances Brandon is born, named in honor of the king of France. Mother of Lady Jane Grey.
1519 Daughter Eleanor Brandon is born.
1520 - June Accompanies the English delegation at the Field of Cloth of Gold at Balinghem, France.
1523 Travels to Calais to lead English troops stationed there during the renewed conflict with France
1523 Invaded France with Count De Buren. They wasted much of Northern France.
1529 Charles and Thomas Howard are sent to collect the Great Seal from Cardinal Wolsey


1533 - June 1 Anne Boleyn crowned queen of England, Brandon acted as High Steward for Anne's coronation
1533 - June 25 Death of wife Mary Tudor
1534 Married Catherine WiIlloughby his teenage ward who was previously engaged to his son Henry
1535 Son Henry (1535-1551) born
1536 Led troops against rebels in Pilgrimage of Grace
1537 Son Charles born (1537-1551)
1544 Command of English Army for invasion of France.
1545 - August 22 Died suddenly at Guildford, Surrey. Henry VIII paid for Charles burial at St George Chapel, Windsor.

Did you know that both sons Charles had with Catherine died of the sweating sickness within ONE hour of each other,
HOW DO YOU think Charles would have felt about Lady Jane Gray's claim to the throne???
