[NB. Earlier historians considered 1507 to be the accepted date but in 1981, the art historian Hugh Paget successfully demonstrated that a letter Anne had written in 1513 from Brussels when she was a maid of honour in that court, a position which was only open to a 12 or 13 yr old was not the hand of a 6 yr old. 1513 Sent to the Burgundian court of Margaret of Austria, in Mechelen, in 1513 (Belgium) & stayed there until late 1514, when she was transferred to France upon the marriage of Mary Tudor to Louis XII.
1515 - 1520 Anne remained in the service of Queen Claude, wife of Francis I, and was befriended/influenced by the brilliant and influential Marguerite d'Alençon, Duchess of Angoulême and the sister of Francis I.
1520 Present at the Field of Cloth of Gold summit in France
1521 Arranged marriage to distant cousin James Butler, heir to Ormonde (Irish) title is proposed.
1521 In November is recalled to England (aged 20). Alliance to Ormonde is dropped.
c. 1521 - 23/24 Sometime between those dates, her sister Mary is Henry's mistress; shortly after Mary's marriage to William Carey, lasting a few years at the most.
1522 Debuts in court at a masquerade "Chateau Vert" as 'Perseverance'
1523 Secret Betrothal to Henry Percy, Duke of Northumberland (reputed to be a love match); an extremely ambitious match.
1524 Wolsey breaks the betrothal, she is sent back home to Hever Castle ("so furious she smoked" - Cavendish) & Percy is hurriedly married to Lady Mary Talbot, to whom he had been betrothed since adolescence. The marriage is disastrous.
1525 Returns to court.
1526 February - Henry asks her to be his mistress. She refuses saying she will only surrender her virginity to the man she marries. (aged 25 & Henry is 35) Refuses him for more than a year & keeps her distance. Offered "maitresse en titre" position; refused
1526 Autumn - Henry sends the first of a series of 17 love letters (which she kept & are now in the possession of the Vatican; unclear how they arrived there)
1527 June /July - Anne sends Henry a trinket - a ship with a lone woman on board & a diamond pendant signifying her surrender to the King.
1527 Summer - Henry & Anne agree to marry (ie. they become betrothed). The annulment of Henry's marriage to Katherine of Aragon is expected to take mere months
1528 June 23 - One of her ladies is stricken by the 'sweating sickness' & Anne survives a bout with the illness
1528 September - retires to Hever Castle
1528 November - Henry rushes to her side at Hever. There is also a serious rift between Anne & Wolsey at this time.
1529 Henry celebrates Christmas with Katherine and Anne declines to appear.
1530 Henry Percy separates from his wife, Mary Talbot. She charges him with being neglectful.
1530 From The New Year, Henry spends more time with Anne than Katherine
1530 November 29 - Wolsey dies after being arrested for plotting (along with Katherine of Aragon & the Pope) to force Anne into exile.
1530 Christmas - Anne has the livery coats of her servants embroidered with the motto "Ainsi sera, groigne qui groinge" (Let them grumble, that is how it is going to be) but has it removed a few weeks later
1532 July - Henry Percy is interrogated because Mary Talbot had said they were never married due to him being legally contracted to marry Anne. He swears under oath that there was no pre-contract.
1532 September - created 1st Marquess of Pembroke at Windsor
1532 Late October - Anne begins living openly with Henry at Greenwich
1532 October/November - Anne accompanies Henry on a state trip to Calais to meet with Francis I (some historians say the secret wedding was November 14 & perhaps this was the date of a formal commitment)
1533 January 25 - secret wedding to Henry (aged 32 + Henry is 42)
1533 May 28 - marriage is validated by Thomas Cranmer (Anne is approx 5 months pregnant)
1533 June - crowned
1533 Sunday, September 7, between 3:00pm and 4:00pm- Daughter Elizabeth is born at Greenwich
1533 December/January 1534 - she announces she is pregnant for the 2nd time
1534 February/March - Anne offers for Princess Mary to reconcile with Henry if she would accept her as queen. Mary's response is that she knew no queen but her mother but if the king's mistress wished to intercede she would be grateful. Anne would try this again on two more occasions with the same result.
1534 June/July (?; date unclear) - Stillbirth/miscarriage. Henry orders it be kept secret.
1535 Summer and autumn spent on progress with Henry VIII
1535 Anne assumes political power independent of Henry VIII: meets with foreign diplomats, religious and cultural patron, responds to petitioners
1535 October - Anne is pregnant again
1536 January 7 - Katherine of Aragon dies. Anne realizes her position is now vulnerable.
1536 January 24 - Henry`s jousting accident
1536 January 29 - Miscarriage 5 days later. No evidence to support foetal abnormalities.
1536 May 1 - Arrested
1536 May 15 - Trial.
Henry Percy sat on the jury that found Anne guilty of adultery. When the verdict was announced, he collapsed & had to be carried from the courtroom.
Percy left no children, suffered from stomach problems, & died one year after Anne's death (summer of 1537)
1536 May 19 - Executed (likely age 35 & Henry 45)
