Elizabeth and Mary
I am currently reading Philippa Gregory's book, "The Queen's Fool" and although some of the book is VERY inaccurate, I can't help but wonder about her getting the relationship between both sisters as being dead on, in my opinion. I mean, u have Mary who is the center of her father's world until Anne Boleyn comes along, and then Mary is shipped off, not allowed to see her mother, even at her Katherine's death. Mary serves Elizabeth, and then Anne dies, and Mary takes care of her b/c she feels sorry for her and such.
Maybe the reason the two could not get along was b/c Mary could not forget the way Anne had treated her and her mother, and maybe all the remarks about how Elizabeth looked like Anne's lutist, Mark Smeaton stemmed from the fact that Mary looked more Spanish and more like her mother and Elizabeth looked more like her father? I just thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss.

Anne and Elizabeth
One thing I'm thrilled about, especially given some of the choices made in terms of her characterization, is that Anne's love for little Elizabeth is being shown. The scenes between them are so sweet and it's obvious how much Anne adores her child. It's sad to watch in some ways, because I know that Anne will be dead before Elizabeth is old enough to have anything but the faintest memories of her, but Natalie does an absolutely beautiful job with those scenes.
From the beginning, when Anne is holding baby Elizabeth, she loves her. The fact that Elizabeth is a girl means that Anne's position is less secure than it could have been if she had given birth to Edward/Henry but that doesn't affect her feelings towards her baby. I thought that she sounded concerned when Henry said that he was going to make Mary one of Elizabeth's attendants - Mary is evidently not supposed to be left alone with the baby, or to pick her up - and when she is peppering Lady Bryan with questions about Elizabeth's feeding habits, you can tell that she'd love to be able to feed her baby herself instead of having to leave the job to a wetnurse and rely on second- and third-hand reports from others.
The scene in Episode Seven, when toddler Elizabeth is brought to Anne and the two of them are looking at the fishes brought tears to my eyes. Anne was so happy to be able to be with her daughter again and, even though she has been so unhappy recently, she wouldn't let Elizabeth see her cry and put on a brave face for her sake. Even Brereton seemed affected by that scene; in his head, he's dehumanized Anne to allow him to justify murdering her but then he sees her playing with her daughter. Can a woman who loves her child so much really be the evil monster he has set out to destroy?
At the back of her mind, I think that Anne is also aware that it's important for Elizabeth's future security, as well her own, that she have a son ASAP.

Mary and Elizabeth
I was very moved by Mary's actions last night as she held her baby sister and sang to her it showed that she loved the child , even after all that has been done to this 17 yr old she still had it in her heart to not take it out on a child, I have read that Mary and Elizabeth where close and that Mary spoke well of her little sister saying she was a goodly child. I wondering how it will be on the show when they are both put into the same boat and lose there Father's love to there New step-mom and Edward

Elizabeth Howard
"Does anyone have any factual info on Anne's mother? In all my reading, she's rarely mentioned." Really? While there isn't entire books written on her Ives provides accurate information about her in his book about Anne. Apparently the had a close relationship and Elizabeth Howard served in Anne's household at court. Mother and daughter shared a closer bond, I believe, than Anne did with her sister Mary.

Mary's, Elizabeth's, and Edward's relationship
"But that doesn't mean that it'll go that way on the show. The friendly relationship may be sacrificed for the sake of drama." We allknow that Elizabeth&Edward were like the best friend's,but Mary hated Elizabeth fore how her mother stole Henry away from Mary's mother...

Elizabeth during Mary's reign
She's dressed very conservatively, her only jewels were pearls, a symbol of virginity. The elaborate gowns would come much later.

Poor little Elizabeth I
Did anyone see episode 10 yet? Did you see the way Henry dismissed another one of his kids (Elizabeth)? It was so sad.

Anne's Impact on Elizabeth's Life
Ok, so this is my first post, and the reaspn why I decided to join is to clarify a lot of misconceptions regarding Anne. Many are trying to discredit her influence on the fact that her daughter, Elizabeth, was such a great ruler. I find it ironic that the daughter of a woman who would voice her opinion and dare to question what was then thought to be "law", would turn into the greatest English monarch in history-and she "but a woman". I don't see the offspring of mousy Jane (yes, I know he died young because he was weak and fragile, but what do you expect out of that prissy woman's child?) or complacent Catherine, being what Elizabeth became. History shows that they all ruled Enland, but only Elizabeth truly left her mark in history. It's like what the epilogue of the Other Boleyn Girl and the Henry VIII movie says: at the end, Henry did get the powerful succesor he yearned for. Not the son he had killed and hoped for, but the strong red-haired little girl Anne gave him. Only the child of Anne Boleyn could do what Elizabeth did! And history does show that Elizabeth did think fondly of her mother. She maybe even had some memories of her; after all, Elizabeth was a very advanced child. Upon her coronation, she was crowned with the same crown her mother was (not the bigger crown used by her father, brother and sister), she named her mothers chaplain, her chaplain, defended her to an ambassador who questoned her honor, brought her cousins from her mother's side and made them influential at court, and had a beautiful ring made with her picture and that of her mother, Anne in it. Legend has it that upon her death, they removed this ring (which she never took off) and gave it to her succesor, James Stuart, as evidence that she had died. I also find it funny, that in essence, Henry basically has Anne killed because she failed to give him male progeny, and she ended up being the last of the Tudors;and died childless, ending the Tudor line!

Did Elizabeth ever have plans to overthrow Mary ?
"I was wondering about this and I am interested if Mary had any evidence to be suspicious of her sister while Queen or was it just paranoia." Whilst there was talk of overthrowing Mary and putting Elizabeth on the throne, it never came to be. Mary's threat was from the Wyatt's trying to Jane Grey on the throne. Due to Wyatt's rebellion, Mary's advisors had Jane Grey executed and talked of having Elizabeth executed, but intsead put her in the tower so she would not have to execute her sister.
