One of the books and I forget which one,. mentions rumors of Henry having an affair during Jane's pregnancy, but Henry and many men of the time seem to have felt that since their wives were out of commission, so to speak, they had a right to look for relief elsewhere for the duration. This was his usual modus operandi, and was not a sign that he had fallen out of love with Jane.

"I have been trying to research what the French Ambassador's name is for a profile. It sounds like Castillan or something like that. The only french ambassadors I can find are Jean du Bellay and Marillac. Is it possible this is another fictional character? Anyone have any clue?"

Antonia Fraser mentions Gaspard De Coligny, sieur de Castillon as the French ambassador at the time Henry was entertaining the idea of marrying a French princess after the death of Queen Jane.. He is the one who supposedly said, when Henry VIII suggested that some kind of parade of the remaining French princesses (after Marie of Guise refused his suit) be organized at Calais for his perusal that If the ladies were to be paraded like ponies, would not the King like to go further and mount them one after the other, retaining for himself the best ride? Henry was said to have laughed and blushed at the remark. That is all Fraser says of him. Weir also mentions him in this connection, although she attributes the above remark to Francois I. Castillon's remark in Weir is 'Perhaps, Sire, you would like to try them one after the other, and keep the one you find most agreeable." Starkey does not mention Castillon at all.

"If anyone is interested in Anne of Cleves,a book written by Margaret Campbell Barnes,titled "My Lady of Cleves", paperback printing 1972,can go to any online used book site such as ABE Books,or Biblio; while fictional, a romance with Hans Holbein(very unlikely),still interesting in portraying her character. It also brought in the young Tudors,and her relationship with them."

I read it probably in the late 70's. I don't remember much about it except that it was a good read. May pick it up again.

The most accepted year of Jane's birth is about 1508. Jane was most certainly not eighteen.

"Elizabeth I did not marry, even tho she was often under persuasion by her council. She seems like she was kinda power hungry, and did not want to share power of the throne with a husband. I read some history on her and she had plenty of men to choose from. She could have good reasons, like an issue of trust. Could you imagine having to have someone test your food before you eat every meal. We may never know. I'm sure she knew about her father's infidelity, he often stated that he was a man of faith, he was not faithful in everyway. I suppose he forgot about, do not commit adultery. He also changed the passage in Lev. about not having children after marrying his brothers wife. His brother died and that left KOA free to marry. The passage really means, taking your brothers wife from him while he is still living. But we all know that the Bible has been interped for many reasons by many people for their own personal gain. No one one dare question the King about his motives. I am surprised Thomas More did not tell him different, the King listened to him on many matters. But the King was a man, and men go with what the horomones are telling them. What is your take on this analogy? "

yes i like ur post and agree with what u say, but this is a thread for the discussing the possibilites of Jane seymour and if she had lived...
