Posted by antoinette2 on the Tudor's prediction page:
Or will she be portrayed as Henry's "Flander's Mare"? Henry is left a widower, no doubt endowed with prodigeous self-pity and whinning. He craves Christina of Milan but doesn't get far with his suit. His fashion sense remains impeccable. Perhaps we shall be ffortunate onlookers to more sexual preying before his marriage to a foreign princess, Anne of Cleves, whom history has crowned "The Fanders Mare." However, her painting by Holbein is lovely and in my eyes, I see a woman much lovelier than poor, homely Jane. Alas, the chemistry will not be there and she is soon discarded, ending Henry's quest for the taste of something female and foreign, but at least she is not beheaded. In fact, it could be said that Anne of Cleves is the first ex-wife in history to get a great settlement and a membership in the "Third Wives Club". This marital disaster cinches forever Henry's predilection for "English Roses" and his future forays regarding the female sex remain solidly British.

Since Anne of Cleves still lived in England after her divorce with Henry, will she still be appearing in season 4? and if so will it be Joss Stone?
(I know it's a bit early to ask, but I am curious)

Has anyone considered the possibility that Henry could have tried to overcome his "distaste" for Anne of Cleves... and wouldn't it be great if she had been the one to give him a son. He would have then had his heir and a queen people could respect. It seems that people automatically write her off as the ugly one - the one he did not want. She seems to have been more than willing to please. Would have made a good queen and a good mother.

Since Anne did not speak English when she came to meet Henry, did she have interpreters and advisors with her when he proposed his "divorce package?" If she did not, it's either a miracle she got what she did, or she was a genius.

She talks about the Tudors and there are some short clips in the beginning. Also if you like her music I would watch the whole thing. :)

I have just been re-reading Antonia Fraser's "Wives of Henry VIII" and I noticed something I apparently missed before, In addtion to the fact that Anne was descirbed as tall, thin, and of 'middling' beauty (to me that means she was certainly not ugly), it is seldom mentioned that she and all of her attendants were in black mourning for her father, Duke John who had died before her departure from Cleves. Can you imagine that she may have often been weeping for the loss of her father, perhaps seasick from the journey, dressed, of course, not only in the strange (to English eyes) garments of the Clevian court, but also in black,? The poor woman almost certainly would not have been pleasant to look at especially to a man to whom all tokens of death or illness were abhorrent. Henry was an inconsiderate jerk in so much of his dealings with this sweet lady. What a pity he could not look beyond appearances!

So, there's already probably not going to be any romance between Henry and Anna, but will they become friends? There's evidence saying that Anna was friend to the children, at least, and possibly even his favorite card playing companion. I'd like to see them develop that much. If they can't be lovers, they can at least be friends, right?

As Anne of Cleves was free to re-marry, is there ever any record of her being interested in any man after Henry? Were any men of the court interested in her? She had as much or more property than a lot of other ladies. But was were her properties and possessions really hers, or contingent somehow on Henry? From what I read, she was regarded as kind, of regal bearing, and fun-loving, having assimilated herself into the English culture and fallen in love with the country. After Henry died, she was no longer taken care of, as I understand it, and considered returning to Germany. Does anyone have any information on this?

Why did Henry refuse to reconsider the idea of marrying Anne of Cleves (again) and instead choose Katherine Parr? I pose this question because he supposedly only wanted companionship by that time, and had forged a rather close, if strange, relationship with Anne. Anne was also friends with his children, and many of his subjects thought she was initially and would be again a good queen.

From the other threads and from Anne's reaction when Henry married Catherine Howard, I can't help but wonder if, when agreeing to be his sister, she secretly harbored a real hope that after time had elapsed Henry would re-marry her. I doubt that was her motive for befriending him and his children. There's no record of any significant improvement to her appearance. Some films/books infer that of everyone, Henry ran to her for comfort and to blow off steam. Do you think she was biding her time waiting for him to return to her?

Lady Rutland finally told Anna of Cleves the "facts of life", but we hear nothing of any ladies assisting her to be more to the king's liking. Assuming she indicated she'd welcome a "lifestyle makeover" to attract Henry more, what would you tell her?

I think that Leelee Sobieski would be a great choice for Anne of Cleves. Anne kind of got a bad rap for her looks. History books don't say that she was ugly, but simply that Henry was disappointed in her looks. We all know he was impossible to please. If Jane Seymour hadn't died in childbirth, he probably would have whacked her too.
