Recently, many of us have shared our religious beliefs and practices. While not all of us have the same beliefs, it is interesting to learn more about other Religions than our own. Some of us are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Agnostic and Atheist. THIS IS NOT A THREAD TO KNOCK ANY RELIGION OR TO SAY WHICH RELIGION IS CORRECT!!! It is purely a learning thread. A place to come and share your views and practices, how your religion affects you personally, and the differences in the churches we attend. This is not the 16th C., and anyone who comes here for the purpose of making trouble, or telling a member his/her practice is wrong, will be brought before the moderators which could result in banning from the wiki. It's ok to come and say you don't believe, but don't overkill w/your statements. There are many members who are very spiritual, and this thread is dedicated to those who wish to learn more about different religious practices and how we view God in general, and also to those who don't believe in a God but would like to learn more.
Peace, ETR

Sorry if this has come up before, and its` bound to have done so. But I`ve just remembered this bizarre dream I had while out for the count this afternoon. I`m an IT tech support worker in reality, and have just been signed off sick for a week, so i`m pretty sure this has some bearing on the dream. But I dreamt I was teaching all six of Henry`s wives how to use computers. Naturally it was like teaching chimps to drive, Katherine of Aragon uninstalled the operating system by accident, Jane was trying to prise open the monitor to see how it worked and generally, all hell was breaking loose. I was panicking like crazy, and all the time Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howards heads kept wobbling ominously and I was trying to stop them falling off. There was no blood, or gore, I just had to reallign them. Has anyone else had any Tudor related dreams? I`m sorry for the randomness of this thread, but I rarely remember my own dreams, and even when I do, they`re usually pretty dull.

Patrick Swayze died at 4am this morning in LA from pancreatic cancer, though it was expected considering the terminality of his condition, it's still shocking...

Hello fans and history lovers! I found a really well-stated, succinctly put perspective in an article I read recenly:
"In modern practice history has become an investigation of the deep past for the enlightenment of the present, and we are only too aware that with each new present a new past will take shape." - Mark Phillips Do any of you know any interesting sayings or quotations about history? Henry Ford's sarcastic "history is bunk" comes to mind, but do we know of any really profound or positive sayings about the 'branch of knowledge that is a record and analysis of the past'?

Some of us have been discussing the feeling that we've lived before, specifically during the Renaissance and Tudor times. We feel 'drawn' to the era of Henry VIII and find that some of the the clothing, jewelry and ways of life to be very significant to us. Since I was as young as 2, I've felt that mom's beads and scarfs looked great in my hair, and that somehow not having them there made me feel 'naked'. Of course, to mom they looked ridiculous. But I've always had to wear something in my hair, even today I seldom go out w/out a sparkly barette in my hair, or a flower. Long trailing sleeves and long skirts seemed as natural as breathing to me and when the fashion for long skirts and trailing sleeves came back in the 70's, I was wearing them. I liked the mini's too, I had great legs, lol. But the more I think about it, the more I believe I lived during the Tudor times, and that my love of hair pieces, long dresses w/trains and trailing sleeves is a leftover from that life. Do you feel as though you've lived before this present life? Does the Tudor Period make you feel 'at home'? Tell us about your experiences and why you think you've had a previous life.

It seems we have members from all over the world on this board, so whereabouts do we all live? And tell us some interesting facts about your town or city!
I'm from Whitby, Yorkshire. Its famous for being one of the places where Bram Stoker's Dracula is set in. It also has the best fish and chip shop in Britain. We get loads of tourists and goths hanging about because of all the vampire stuff. It can get a bit spooky at night.

Are there any Tolkien fans here among us? I am myself a big fan thanks to Peter Jackson's films. I watched the film accidentaly and it become one of the greatest passions in my life, I was even lucky enough to write BA related to Tolkien. I read all Tolkien's books which I could get(unfortunately, there are still many of them which I couldn't get). After that I began to read fantasy works by other authors. Now this long-lasting passion of mine is diminished by the new interest in the Tudors... So it seems I like things beginning with T..

tHANK YOU (especially Elizabethtudorrose) for thinking of me. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. I am running out of Tudor things to think about until Season 4. Meanwhile, Henry would have gotten rid of me a long time ago. But I would have gone down fighting. LOL

Did you know that Michael Jackson owned one of the most beautiful castles and estates in Ireland called Luggala Estate which has been used a lot in the filming of The Tudors? Check it out here : http://tudorswiki.sho.com/page/The+Tudors+Set+Locations
He and his 3 children stayed there on a vacation and loved it so much that he bought it in 2007.
