When I discovered the inscription on Mary and Elizabeth's shared tomb said, I was confused. Shouldn't it read MARY and Elizabeth and not Elizabeth and Mary??? Since she was the older sister after all. Even if James I did like Elizabeth more and was a Prodestant, it was still disgraceful to show such disrespect to King Henry VIII's legitimate daughter and also the fact that Elizabeth's statue thing (for lack of a better word) was TWICE the size of Queen Mary's and Mary's statue was below Elizabeth's despite the fact that she was England's first Queen Regent and her older sister, and also insulting to Mary's wish to be buried next to her mother. I think that it was a terrible thing to do on the part of James I and not very kingly behaviour at all. I know it seems such a silly thing to be annoyed about but considering that Queen Mary was not shown very much love by anyone except her mother, Jane Seymour and a select few others, she deserves more respect than this considering all her hardships and the lack of respect she was shown throughout the vast majority of her life.

Great Page! It's just that season One covered the years 1519 to 1530, season two 1532 to 1536 and season three 1536 to 1540.

Hi there. In my introduction I said that my husband and I will be writing the card set for the show. I'm a HUGE fan and have watched each season a couple of times at least. I'm also a big Tudor fiction reader and am very familiar with somewhat historically accurate accounts of events. I am looking for input from fans. What you would like to see in the set, what you think of some of my lists so far.
There will be 4 chase card sets that I'm stumped on and am looking for ideas. The sets will be 2- 9 card sets, 1-6 card set and 1-3 card set. I have the 3 set as "Henry's legacy" . I also have one of the 9s set to be locations : Tower of London Hampton Court Palace Whitehall Greenwich Hever Castle Westminster Abbey St. James Palace Non-such Palace Richmond Palace We have decided to put character cards in the main set along with 1-2 event cards from each show (all 3 seasons-28 shows) Here is my character list, I need to trim a couple for numbers and would love input on who should go and if I've missed anyone? Characters s.1(complete) Henry VIII Catherine of Aragon Anne Boleyn Cardinal Wolsey Sir Thomas More Charles Brandon Duke of Suffolk Duke of Norfolk (check what his name was) Thomas Boleyn Thomas Cromwell s.2 (possibly incomplete) Thomas Cranmer Pope Paul III Thomas Wyatt Jane Seymour s.3(still unsure about this season as I haven't watched it yet) Francis Bryan Anne of Cleves Edward Seymour Katherine Howard Jane Boleyn What would you LOVE to see in this set? I was thinking of costumes??

Although this day may be a sad one, for many it is a day of celebration known as 'Queen Elizabeth Day' for it marks Elizabeth's accession to the throne. What are your thoughts on this day? For me, I think it is both sad and happy, sad because of the death of poor Mary, but happy because of Elizabeth's accession.

Today (17th November 2009) is the 451st Anniversary of Elizabeth's accession to the throne. This day was known as 'Queen Elizabeth Day', and was celebrated right up until the reign of Queen Anne (1702-1714). She was at Hatfield reading under an oak tree (spot is still marked today by a new oak tree planted by HM Queen Elizabeth II) when she was informed of her accession. She then proclaimed in Latin: 'This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes'.

In addition to being the anniversary of Elizabeth I's ascension to the English throne, it is also the Feast Day of Elizabeth of Hungary, a Saint of the Catholic Church who was also a Queen.

I know that Anne Boleyns were Blue and Purple and Princess Marys were Blue and Green. Can anyone help me to fill in for the other wives and Elizabeth and Edward?

In series one, Henry is playing chess with Thomas Boleyn, and ask abouts the king of france. This conversation never happened with thomas boleyn, but infact with a venetian ambassador Pasqualido in 1515.
