FAVOURITE TUDOR HISTORICAL FIGURES
FAVOURITE QUEEN OF HENRY VIII
Katherine Howard
Katherine Howard
Katherine Howard, I feel, is the most misunderstood wife of Henry. She is seen as an adultress but look at who she was married to, like he wasn't! I also agree with David Starkey that Katherine and Culpepper did not consumate their relationship. Culpepper just said that they intended to, not that they actually did.
Katherine was also very kind to all those around her. She helped with Wyatt's release from the Tower and sent warm clothes and blankets to Margaret Pole while she was in the Tower. She also took little 'Lady' Elizabeth under her wing and called her 'kinswoman'.
FAVOURITE TUDOR MONARCH
Elizabeth I (Crop Portrait)
Elizabeth I
Okay, this really wasn't a hard one to guess was it? Elizabeth defied her council by never marrying and she brought England from the shadows into a major player in the royal courts of Europe once more.
I also think that she had magnificent style. Another thing is that I feel sorry for Elizabeth and all of the things she had to suffer during her youth. Her mother and step-mother's beheading did not have a good effect on the her and obvioulsy this had to do with why she never married.
FAVOURITE NON-ENGLISH MONARCH DURING THE TUDOR PERIOD
Mary Queen of Scots Cropped Portrait
Mary Queen of Scots
Yes, I know, she did have 'English' heritage but she was Scottish and French first and foremost. Queen Mary is one of those women that you think history has been unjust to. They make Mary out as this woman that fell to a man's whim. Really she just fell in love with the wrong men. She was never truly taught the ways of a sovereign as a young girl. Her story to me is one of the most tragic and interesting stories of the Tudor/Elizabethan period.
MY OTHER FAVOURITE QUEEN OF HENRY VIII
Anne Boleyn, Second Wife & Queen Consort to Henry VIII
Anne Boleyn
Yes, my favourites are the cousins!!! Anne Boleyn, to me, is such an amazing person (not that the other wives were not, it is just that I really admire her). She had amazing style, was highly intecllectual and kept her principles. I do think that the charges against her were false. One thing I do not like is her treatment of Princess Mary, but I think she did it for the safety of her own daughter.
For a woman to keep a man, especially a king, on a string for SEVEN years says alot.

I am wanting to find out more about Elizabeth Blount, as I want to write a book about her but I am finding myself in quite a bother as I can't seem to find that much information about her anywhere.

If anyone is able to locate any books, material or sources with information on her it would be much appreciated.
