************************************************** HE lively sparks that issue from those eyes, Against the which there vaileth no defence, Have pierced my heart, and done it none offence, With quaking pleasure more than once or twice. Was never man could any thing devise,
Sunbeams to turn with so great vehemence To daze man's sight, as by their bright presence
Dazed am I ;
much like unto the guise Of one stricken with dint of lightning,
Dazed am I ;
much like unto e and there
Blind with the stroke, and crying here and there
So call I for help, I not when nor where,
The pain of my fall patiently bearing :
For straight after the blaze, as is no wonder,
Of deadly noise hear I the fearful thunder. ~Wyatt
STRENGTH AGAINST TYRANNY: FEMININE WILES OF THE WIVES
"Sir, I beseech you for all the love that hath been between us, let me have justice and right, take of me some pity and compassion, for I am a poor woman, and a stranger, born out of your dominion. I have here no friend and much less indifferent counsel... I take God and all the world to witness that I have been to you a true, humble and obedient wife, ever comfortable to your will and pleasure...And when ye had me at first, I take God to my judge, I was a true maid, without touch of man. And whether this be true or no, I put it to your conscience . . . Therefore, I humbly require you to spare me the extremity of this new court . . . And if ye will not, to God I commit my cause. "
"Wishing myself...in my sweetheart's arms, whose pretty dukkys [breasts] I trust shortly to kiss..." ~HENRY VIII
"Your mistress I will not be"
"Alas, what shall I do for love?
For love, alas, what shall I do? "
"My last and only request shall be, that myself only bear the burden of your grace's displeasure, and that it may not touch the innocent souls of those poor gentlemen.."
"Try me, good King, but let me have a Lawful
Trial..."
"And thus I take my leave of the world and of you all, and I heartily desire you all to pray for me.
O Lord have mercy on me, to God I commend my soul."
"Daughter, I heard such tidings today that I do perceive if it be true, the time is come that Almighty God will prove you; and I am very glad of it, for I trust He doth handle you with a good love...He will not suffer you to perish if you beware to offend Him. I pray you, good daughter, to offer yourself to Him. If any pangs come to you, shrive yourself; first make you clean; take heed of His commandments, and keep them as near as He will give you grace to do, for then you are sure armed. "
~KATHARINE OF ARAGON

"It is a myth that Tudor women were meek and submissive. Some were strong minded and they had more influence than is sometimes imagined."

Yeah, so it just hit me that my wedding anniversery is on the same day as the anniversary of Anne's execution. I'm not sure if there is some kind of English lore which might suggest bad luck associated with this date (ala Julius Caesar and the Ides of March). Does anyone know, besides ghost sightings and the like?
