Katherine and ThomasKatherine of Aragon Thomas MoreKatherine and MaryMary and AnneJane and Henry

My favorite Queens were the Mother of Catherine of Aragon Queen Isabella of Castile and her beautiful daughter the QUEEN of England KOA. There are so many things I admire about Catalina the Infanta. I think to understand or learn about KOA you would need to read about her parents and how she was raised. Which first her parents were devout in their faith and fought many battles with her mother Queen Isabella leading her men. Her mother loved her father deeply and vice versa. At a very young age Catalina knew she would be Queen Of England and her whole life building up for that was preparing for it. She came to a country that would someday be hers, To be wed to Arthur only to have him die shortly after. Then to have Henry VII treat her horribly, Above all she never lost sight of God and his plans she had been taught. I could go on and on why I love this queen But if I had to use only a few words it would be strength, and her neverending faith. She held her head up high. And in death she forgave. She truly was the Queen Of England. Many people do not think much of Jane Seymour however because KOA had already died I can view her as the next Queen. She was so different than both the first two wives of Henry. I dont know if he just "loved her the most" because he gave her King a son, something he wanted above all things. But she was not a meek little wife. I find it very humble and brave of her to try and bring Mary and Elizabeth back into the KIngs good graces. She had no alterior motive but that I believe she had a sweet loving soul. And I will say for those who dislike her, this is some food for thought. The Boleyns set a precedent in pushing a female in front of the King in hopes of catching his eye and possibly becoming a new Queen. AS for Anne Boleyn. I can recognize that she was intelligent, traveled but the sheer fact remains that KOA was a faithful and loyal wife to the King. She did not waiver in her faith or change the written word to suit a situation for political power as I believe AB to have, I have read and tried to understand Anne B but I just do not think of her as a Queen in any way, She played a big part in the split of the church and Henry's Family. Lust and Love are powerful things which did the king feel for Anne Boleyn ?
Many will say she was a pawn. I believe her to be no more a pawn but an active political member of achieving power. They say she held out for years ( Um she should have never played that role to begin with) She knew the cards she held. Also some will say her achievement of Elizabeth. But considering the times. she was unable to spend much time with her daughter as it was the way back then. And when she was executed Elizabeth was far too young to remember her mother. Many will also say that so much of Anne Boleyns life was destroyed by Henry. But wouldn't some say the same for KOA ? I find that the interest in Anne Boleyn for some is more the love of Elizabeth. Again this is just my opinion. And then some will say Jane Seymour only gave him a male heir. Well lets play devils advocate, isn't that what he was looking for with Anne Boleyn ?
The one thing about history is we can all view it from different angles. I try to keep an open mind and be challenged to learn more.

Now the children of these Queens

I love Mary and think she is often misunderstood. I also think the children of Henry became who they were due to the adversities they endured. For Mary she was loved by both parents the apple of their eye and then separated from her mother. Had her father shun her, and serve her sister Elizabeth. She was not able to have the comfort of her mother or her father so I believe later in life she longed to be loved and she so wanted to due justice for her mother. Often causing her to be misunderstood. The term Bloody Mary makes me want to scream. She did what she thought was right as did some of those before her. She was not the barbaric her father was. My favorite scenes with her are when she tells Anne Boleyn She knows no other Queen but her mother. The look on her face priceless. And when baby Elizabeth was crying and she went in to comfort her. Something throughout history gets overlooked, the love she did have for her sister.

For Elizabeth she was much younger and probably remembered very little of her mother. She also fell from favor with her father at a younger age. I believe all these things and the people who influenced her life helped her be one of the greatest Tudor Rulers in History. I too think she so wanted to do justice for her mother but if by doing so it caused a double edge sword for her. She ruled by what she learned. I can love Elizabeth, but think she not such the ruler because of her genes of Anne Boleyn but much more the life lead up to her reign.

As for Edward, anyone who is An Anne Boleyn fan seems to say such harsh things about him and his ruling. But his throne was of a very young age. And with only one living Son I do believe that Henry protected him more than teaching him. And with the country still having religious reformations he was quite stuck. Given instructions by others. And Sadly he died young as did many of the Tudors.

I think it is very important especially for the mods of this wiki to realize that not everyone is a historian nor writing a book about the tudors. We all come from many places. The love of one Queen that interested us as a child. The showtimes series. And when someone only comes from non lectures, no degree's in 16th century history there should be a little more understanding. I believe this wiki started from the series. And many know only what is shown.

Right now I am reading as much as possible about this historical time. Books, the wiki, the Internet.

I am enjoying meeting people from this wiki. I live in America My favorite things are my kids , the ocean, reading, music (especially from the 80's, newwave and punk rock). Favorite movies too many to list. But An Affair to remember ,Sound of Music, Valley Girl, NottingHill,Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles to name a few. I love reality shows lol. And my favorite series are The Tudors,The L word. Dexter and the mini Series John Adams. Man lets hear it for Showtime (and props for HBO John Adams). If you read this far thank you.

Special thanks to Brunet for her youtube video of Missing Me

Season 3 is almost here for the US. Lets hope the wiki will be balanced to allow for all historical parties to be discussed.
Instead of an Anne Boleyn wiki.

Do you think Anne Boelyn ever regretted her treatment of Katherine as she approached her own death?
